Job description

Role: ServiceNow VR (Vulnerability Response) Developer
Location: Dallas, TX / Vienna, VA (Onsite/Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Months (Contract)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Vulnerability Response (VR) Developer to design, develop, configure, and enhance the ServiceNow Vulnerability Response application. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ServiceNow Security Operations (SecOps), vulnerability management, workflow automation, integrations with security tools, and ITSM processes. This role requires close collaboration with security, infrastructure, and compliance teams to streamline vulnerability remediation and improve organizational security posture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and configure the ServiceNow Vulnerability Response (VR) application.
  • Implement and customize Security Operations (SecOps) modules, including Vulnerability Response.
  • Build and maintain workflows, Flow Designer solutions, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, and Script Includes.
  • Integrate ServiceNow VR with vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Microsoft Defender, or similar platforms.
  • Configure vulnerability import processes, normalization, and remediation workflows.
  • Develop REST/SOAP API integrations with enterprise security and IT systems.
  • Customize dashboards, reports, and performance analytics for vulnerability tracking and compliance reporting.
  • Support vulnerability lifecycle management, including assignment, remediation, risk acceptance, and closure.
  • Collaborate with security operations, infrastructure, and application teams to automate remediation processes.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and optimize platform performance.
  • Follow ServiceNow development best practices, governance, and release management processes.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and deployment activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of ServiceNow development experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow Security Operations (SecOps) and Vulnerability Response.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Glide API, ServiceNow scripting, and platform customization.
  • Experience with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Actions, UI Policies, and Client Scripts.
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with vulnerability scanning platforms such as Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7, or Microsoft Defender.
  • Strong understanding of vulnerability management processes and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, and web service integrations.
  • Knowledge of ITSM processes including Incident, Change, and CMDB.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist โ€“ Security Operations.
  • Experience with CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, or Service Mapping.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Experience with Performance Analytics and ServiceNow reporting.
  • Knowledge of GRC, Integrated Risk Management (IRM), or Security Incident Response is a plus.
