As of Jun 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for vr manufacturing in the United States is $18.46, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.14 and $20.91 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in VR manufacturing, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in VR manufacturing often encounter challenges such as keeping up with rapidly evolving technology, integrating new VR systems with existing manufacturing processes, and ensuring user safety in immersive environments. Addressing these challenges typically involves continuous learning and training, collaborating closely with engineers and IT specialists, and adhering to industry standards for both hardware and software. Successful VR manufacturing teams also prioritize clear communication to facilitate smooth implementation and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.

What is VR manufacturing?

VR manufacturing involves using virtual reality (VR) technology to design, test, and optimize manufacturing processes and products in a virtual environment. This allows engineers and designers to simulate production lines, train workers, and identify potential issues before physical manufacturing begins. The use of VR can reduce costs, improve safety, and speed up the development process by providing immersive, interactive experiences. Companies across automotive, aerospace, and consumer goods industries are increasingly adopting VR manufacturing to enhance efficiency and innovation.

What is the difference between Vr Manufacturing vs VR Technician?

AspectVr ManufacturingVR Technician
CredentialsTypically requires manufacturing or technical certificationsRequires technical certifications in VR hardware and software
Work EnvironmentFactories, production lines, manufacturing plantsLabs, tech workshops, client sites
Industry UsageManufacturing, industrial productionVR hardware setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Job FocusMass production, assembly, quality controlInstallation, repair, and technical support of VR systems

Vr Manufacturing involves overseeing the production and assembly of VR devices in manufacturing settings, focusing on mass production and quality control. VR Technicians specialize in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining VR hardware and software. While both roles require technical skills, Vr Manufacturing is more production-oriented, whereas VR Technicians focus on technical support and system maintenance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a VR Manufacturing Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a VR Manufacturing Specialist, you need a background in manufacturing processes, 3D modeling, and VR technology, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Proficiency with CAD software, VR development platforms like Unity or Unreal Engine, and familiarity with VR hardware is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies are crucial for ensuring the seamless integration of virtual reality solutions into manufacturing workflows, driving efficiency and innovation.

Job description

Job Summary:
Embraer is seeking an Unreal Engine VR Technical Designer to enhance the delivery of real-time VR experiences by developing scalable systems in Unreal Engine. The role involves creating Blueprint-based interaction frameworks and ensuring high-quality VR implementations for customer-facing demonstrations.
Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain VR experiences in Unreal Engine for in-house PCVR use.
• Implement core VR interaction patterns (locomotion, UI interaction, object interaction, selection).
• Ensure experiences are stable, comfortable, and ready for customer-facing demonstrations.
• Create modular, maintainable Blueprint systems using clean structure, reusable components, and consistent logic patterns.
• Develop frameworks for repeatable VR features so future projects are significantly faster to deliver.
• Build data-driven systems (DataTables, structs, enums) to reduce hardcoded logic.
• Optimize VR performance using profiling tools and best practices.
• Set and maintain performance budgets appropriate for PCVR resolution and framerate.
• Ensure builds are stable, consistent, and easy to deploy on Windows VR demonstration hardware.
• Mentor Unreal-beginner artists on best practices, naming standards, and logic structure.
• Collaborate with 3D artists to integrate assets efficiently for VR.
• Establish and maintain project templates, folder structures, and lightweight documentation to reduce rework.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3+ years of professional Unreal Engine experience with at least one VR project delivered.
• Strong Blueprint skills with proven ability to architect systems (not just assemble levels).
• Hands-on experience implementing VR interaction mechanics.
• Ability to profile and optimize VR performance for PCVR.
• Experience working with VR headsets such as Oculus/Quest via PC.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative visualization environments.
Preferred:
• Experience with UMG UI for VR environments.
• Familiarity with Level Streaming or World Partition workflows.
• Experience supporting visualization teams (architecture, transportation, product).
• Light C++ exposure (optional, not required).
Company:
Embraer is an aerospace manufacturer that produces commercial and executive aircraft for the commercial and defense sectors. Founded in 1969, the company is headquartered in São Paulo, BRA, with a team of 10001+ employees. The company is currently Late Stage.
