Job description

As a Project Manager III in the CDG Program Management Office, you'll drive day-to-day execution of one or more new product development or sustaining programs, partnering closely with cross-functional core teams (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing) to keep plans on track. A typical day includes updating integrated project plans and VPM boards, resolving scheduling conflicts, running core team and workstream meetings, tracking risks and action items to closure, and preparing materials for phase gate and Portfolio Decision Team (PDT) reviews — balancing hands-on problem-solving with proactive planning so the team stays aligned on scope, timeline, and budget.

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, and VPM boards for assigned programs, keeping milestones, dependencies, and critical path current and accurate.
  • Lead and facilitate core team and functional workstream meetings, driving decisions and risk/issue resolution to closure across R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Marketing.
  • Prepare and present phase gate and PDT materials, ensuring recommendations are backed by clear, data-driven analysis of scope, budget, and resource trade-offs.
  • Proactively identify, document, and mitigate program risks; escalate issues transparently and early to enable fast leadership decision-making.
  • Track program budget/spend against plan and support monthly financial reporting and forecasting, partnering with Finance and functional leads.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field; PMP certification a plus.
  • 5-8 years of project/program management experience, ideally in medical device, diagnostics, or another regulated product development environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cross-functional workstreams and competing priorities in a fast-paced NPD environment.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills; comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leadership.
  • Working knowledge of stage-gate/phase-gate development processes, risk management, and visual project management tools (VPM, MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar).
