Based in Washington DC, Burson is seeking to hire a Vice President with deep expertise around Technology Policy and Public Affairs Communications for our Corporate and Public Affairs practice.
The VP will lead large, complex client relationships, coalitions and programs, with a primary focus on integrated public affairs communications, account and project management. The VP will advise on technology industry issues with the ability to synthesize and translate information into knowledge-based communication solutions, strategies and tactics in addition to managing the development and execution of deliverables and driving core team projects.
This is an opportunity to work on global technology policy issues impacting stakeholders - including consumers - around the world.
What you'll do:
  • Strategic public relations/public affairs communications management and execution of the work.
  • Coalition and client management to include cross-market coordination, integrated communications deliverables, consultant/vendor workflow oversight, and account financials.
  • Media relations strategy development and execution (traditional, digital and social) across Beltway, corporate and tech industry platforms.
Experience that contributes to success:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communication policy roles of increasing complexity operating in a high-stakes and fast-paced environment.
  • An understanding of U.S. and geopolitical dynamics for the technology industry and experience with policy challenges that technology companies face.
  • Previous experience providing counsel and information within the technology public affairs / communications or policy arenas.
  • Strong relationship development skills with the ability to gain trust quickly, influence outcomes and establish consensus diplomatically and consultatively.
  • Strong writing, research and strategic analysis skills.
  • Former in-house, government or agency experience preferred.
