Position Title: Vice President, Marketing

The Vice President, Marketing will support all of US Marketing including the commercialized products and future pipeline products as they are launched in the US. The Vice President, Marketing is responsible for developing and executing the overarching marketing strategies for our current and future portfolio. Together with their team, the role is accountable for developing and leading brand strategies and ensuring Esperion appropriately serves customers and patients with information, education, and services about Esperion brands and our relevant therapeutic areas. This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer. Available as a remote position from a home-based office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead development of US brand strategies and initiatives to drive continued growth of our commercialized products and to prepare future pipeline products for launch in the US.
  • Champion marketing at the corporate level; lead communication of brand visions, strategy, and imperatives and provide clear focus and prioritization on all aspects of marketing strategy and marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee market research (payers, physicians, patients) and market analytics to uncover market and customer-based insights that drive ongoing positioning and brand strategy.
  • Track payer environment and understand payer segment needs to optimize brand positioning with these stakeholders in order to maximize access and rapid uptake in different segments and geographies at launch
  • Lead the annual Marketing budget process and track contracts and expenditures against the budget.
  • Develop and maintain an effective collaborative working relationship with the external agency teams.
  • Track the competitive environment and external market events, and develop strategies and action plans to address threats and opportunities.
  • Drive and participate in a rigorous promotional review process including Marketing, Medical, Regulatory and Legal reviews.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all regulatory agencies, state, federal, and other applicable laws.
  • Partner with the Vice President, Sales, to define the approach for go-to-market, customer engagement and experience, and overall commercial strategy to leverage innovation and modern approaches.
  • Conceptualize and develop unique, innovative approaches to educate, engage, and inspire HCPs and consumers/patients.
  • Contribute to developing product lifecycle innovation plans for US commercialized products and lead associated commercial assessment work.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a highly talented Marketing team.
  • Further develop marketing capabilities to support best in class delivery of product/disease information, education, and services to customers/patients.
  • Provide direction and leadership for patient identification and engagement strategies and create framework for an end-to-end patient experience.
  • Review and assess US performance and implement plans to achieve corporate objectives.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing or related field with a Minimum of 20 years of experience in US pharmaceutical marketing required; or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of direct management experience required
  • Proven, consistent high performance across multiple leadership roles of increased responsibilities in marketing/brand leadership/commercial P&L. Experience as sales leader is also strongly preferred.
  • Experienced leader with a proven track record of successful experience in product launches
  • Clinical knowledge of lipid field preferred.
  • A demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities is required.
  • Strong analytical skills preferred.
  • Full understanding of US payers, payer segments, reimbursement and access
  • Requires excellent communication and negotiation skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work and drive consensus across cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort in working in a small company environment
  • 20 – 25% travel required.
