Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid/In-office with travel)


We are pleased to be supporting a rapidly growing energy technology business in the appointment of a Vice President, Product Management - Utility Software & Grid Solutions.


This is a unique opportunity for an experienced product executive with deep utility technology and grid software expertise to define product strategy, build a high-performing product organisation, and shape the future direction of solutions supporting the modernisation of the energy sector.


The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of electric utility operations, distribution grid technologies, and enterprise software solutions, with the ability to translate complex customer challenges into differentiated products and commercially successful strategies.


The Opportunity

Reporting into executive leadership, the Vice President of Product Management will own the vision, strategy, and execution of the organisationโ€™s utility software portfolio.


This role will play a critical part in establishing a scalable product management operating model, improving product discipline, and ensuring alignment between market needs, customer outcomes, engineering priorities, and commercial objectives.


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Product Vision & Strategy


  • Develop a clear product strategy aligned with utility market trends, customer requirements, regulatory drivers, and business objectives
  • Define roadmap priorities across utility software solutions, grid modernisation technologies, and digital transformation initiatives
  • Identify emerging opportunities within the distribution grid ecosystem and translate them into actionable product strategies
  • Build a strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive positioning


Product Leadership & Operating Model


  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing product management function
  • Introduce structured product processes covering discovery, prioritisation, roadmap planning, launch readiness, and outcome measurement
  • Create strong collaboration between product, engineering, commercial, and customer-facing teams
  • Establish a culture focused on customer value, accountability, innovation, and measurable business impact


Utility Market & Domain Leadership

  • Act as a strategic product leader within the utility technology market
  • Engage with utility customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to validate product direction
  • Provide market insight to support commercial strategy and solution positioning
  • Represent the organisation as a thought leader within the utility software and grid modernisation space


About You


This role requires significant experience within utility technology, grid software, or related energy infrastructure solutions. Candidates without direct exposure to the utility software ecosystem will not be considered.


You will bring:


  • 15+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, solution leadership, or related technology roles
  • Deep knowledge of the electric utility sector, particularly distribution grid technologies and operational workflows
  • Proven experience leading product organisations and establishing scalable product processes
  • Strong understanding of utility software platforms and solutions such as:
  • Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)
  • Distribution Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS)
  • Outage Management Systems (OMS)
  • Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
  • Grid analytics and grid intelligence platforms
  • SCADA or operational technology (OT) environments
  • Experience managing complex enterprise software products within regulated industries
  • Ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead cross-functional decision-making
  • Strong commercial understanding and the ability to connect product strategy with business outcomes
