FUNCTION: The Vice President of People (VP of People) serves as a strategic member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for leading the development and execution of James Fisher Technologies' people strategy to support the Company's mission, vision, values, and long-term business objectives. The VP of People partners closely with executive leadership to build a high-performing workforce, foster an exceptional employee experience, and cultivate a culture of initiative, curiosity, persistence, respect and passion. The VP of People serves as a strategic business leader who aligns talent, culture, and organizational capability with the Company's operational and financial objectives, ensuring Human Resources advances both employee success and business performance


The VP of People oversees all aspects of Human Resources, including organizational development, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, benefits, leadership development, performance management, succession planning, compliance, HR technology, and employee engagement. The VP of People ensures that people strategies align with business objectives while supporting the continued growth of James Fisher Technologies. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational excellence and is comfortable transitioning between executive planning and hands-on execution in a growing organization.

At JFT, we work a Monday–Friday 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, providing the opportunity to recharge, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and return refreshed and energized.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic member of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership to develop and execute the Company's people strategy.
  • Align Human Resources initiatives with organizational goals, operational priorities, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Provide executive coaching and strategic guidance to leaders on organizational effectiveness and workforce planning.
  • Champion James Fisher Technologies' mission, vision, and core values throughout the organization.

Human Resources Leadership

  • Lead all Human Resources functions including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, compliance, training, HRIS, and employee engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to both employees and leadership, balancing employee advocacy with the Company's operational, financial, and strategic objectives to ensure decisions support the long-term success of the business.
  • Ensure Human Resources programs, policies, and decisions reinforce a high-performance culture by aligning talent practices with accountability, business results, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that support organizational success.
  • Build scalable HR processes to support continued company growth and compliance.
  • Establish and monitor Human Resources goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure consistent application of employment policies and procedures.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Develop and execute strategic recruiting initiatives to attract top talent.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts aligned with current and future business needs.
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment for engineering, manufacturing, project management, skilled trades, quality, finance, and corporate functions.
  • Develop succession planning and internal talent development strategies.
  • Build internship, apprenticeship, and university recruiting programs.
  • Strengthen employer branding and community partnerships.

Leadership Development & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Work with executive leadership to oversee the design and implementation of leadership development programs for supervisors, managers, and executives.
  • Develop succession planning initiatives for critical business positions.
  • Coach leaders on employee development, performance management, conflict resolution and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead organizational design and change management initiatives.
  • Foster a culture focused on initiative, curiosity, persistence, respect and passion.

Compensation

  • Develop and administer the Company's compensation philosophy and total rewards strategy.
  • Oversee market salary analysis, Equal Pay for Equal Work (EPEW) analysis and compensation benchmarking.
  • Oversee and collaborate with CFO on annual salary planning, incentive programs, and bonus administration.
  • Direct employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, COBRA and wellness initiatives.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with benefit brokers, consultants, and vendors.
  • Serve as Plan Administrator for employee benefit programs.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable government contracting requirements.
  • Partner with legal counsel regarding employment matters and organizational risk.
  • Oversee creation and maintenance of Human Resources policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
  • Ensure timely completion of required government reporting.
  • Manage JFT’s Affirmative Action Plan.

HR Technology & Analytics

  • Lead the strategic administration and optimization of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Oversee Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), onboarding platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and performance management systems.
  • Develop workforce metrics and executive dashboards.
  • Analyze HR data to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Champion an exceptional employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Lead the prompt, objective, and confidential investigation and resolution of employee complaints, workplace conflicts, and allegations of policy violations, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Coach leaders and employees through difficult workplace issues, facilitating constructive conflict resolution while protecting the Company's culture, legal interests, and commitment to respectful treatment of all employees.
  • Promote employee engagement through recognition, wellness, communication, and development programs.
  • Foster a respectful workplace that values teamwork, celebrates diverse contributions, and highlights employees that put passion into their work..
  • Build mentoring and coaching programs.
  • Lead employee events, community engagement, and corporate culture initiatives.

Financial & Business Partnership

  • Develop and manage the Human Resources annual operating budget.
  • Partner with Finance to support labor forecasting and workforce planning.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and return on investment of HR initiatives.
  • Support organizational growth, restructuring, and strategic business initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to Human Resources staff.
  • Builds a high-performing HR team focused on customer service, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establishes departmental goals and performance expectations.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and supports professional development.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field required.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing Human Resources in a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or government contracting environment.
  • Experience supporting high-growth organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with executive leadership on strategic business initiatives.
  • Experience leading organizational change and culture transformation preferred.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent professional certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and operate standard office equipment. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors is essential. Occasionally lift and carry items, typically under 25lbs.


TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment with occasional exposure to the fabrication and machine shops.
