About the Role
Dispatch is looking for a VP of Talent to bring our recruiting function in-house and scale the high-bar hiring approach that has helped us build the company to date.
Today, our founding team is deeply involved in hiring: defining what great looks like, targeting exceptional candidates, assessing them rigorously, and personally helping close them. We partner with external recruiters to execute much of that work.
The Head of Talent will turn that founder-led model into a world-class internal recruiting function without lowering the bar.
This is a player-coach role. You'll personally lead important searches, build the recruiting team and systems around you, create a strong internal referral engine, and continue to use external search partners selectively where they add leverage.
What You'll Do
  • Bring recruiting in-house. Build the internal team, systems, and operating cadence required to execute the hiring model Dispatch uses today.
  • Partner deeply with hiring managers. Define what exceptional looks like for each role, sharpen search strategies, and maintain a consistently high hiring bar.
  • Personally lead critical searches. Source, engage, assess, reference, and close senior and hard-to-fill candidates.
  • Build a strong referral engine. Create a systematic motion for activating the networks of our employees, investors, customers, advisors, and broader community.
  • Build proactive talent pipelines. Map relevant markets, identify the people we want to know, and cultivate relationships before roles become urgent.
  • Make hiring managers better at hiring. Improve how leaders scope roles, interview, assess, reference, sell, and close candidates.
  • Build and lead the Talent team. Source, hire, and manage a small team of exceptional recruiters who operate with high judgment, urgency, and ownership.
  • Manage external search partners strategically. Continue to work with best-in-class search firms on select executive and specialized searches where they provide differentiated access or expertise.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a VP of Talent, Head of Talent, or equivalent senior recruiting leader at a high-growth B2B SaaS or technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience building or materially scaling an internal recruiting function during a period of significant company growth.
  • A track record of personally sourcing and closing exceptional senior, executive, and hard-to-find talent.
  • A track record of sourcing, hiring, developing, and managing high-performing recruiters.
  • Prior experience in executive search, agency recruiting, or another external search environment, with deep familiarity with proactive sourcing and candidate development.
  • Experience partnering directly with founders and executives on high-stakes searches.
  • Strong executive recruiting capabilities, including assessing, referencing, selling, and closing highly competitive candidates.
  • Experience building successful employee referral programs and other network-driven sources of talent.
  • Strong business judgment and the credibility to challenge senior leaders when needed.
  • High intellectual horsepower, urgency, and attention to detail.
  • Clear, direct communication and low ego.
  • Genuine love of recruiting as a craft.
