About the role:

The Area Vice President of Operations is a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic and operational oversight for multiple hospice agencies across the region. Job Responsibilities:ย

Strategic Leadership & Partnership

  • Partner with the SVP to shape and execute operational strategy, aligning agency performance with enterprise goals
  • Advise executive leadership on field operations, workforce trends, and market dynamics

Agency Operations Oversight

  • Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and accountability to Executive Directors and agency leadership teams across multiple markets
  • Standardize and scale operational processes to ensure consistency in care delivery and staff experience
  • Drive performance against clinical quality, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, census growth, and financial benchmarks
  • Ensure agencies are appropriately staffed and resourced to deliver timely, high-quality care

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and maintain a framework for monitoring KPIs, conducting regular reviews, and implementing corrective action when needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs without compromising care quality
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning by introducing and reinforcing best practices
  • Partner with clinical leadership on quality improvement initiatives

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements governing hospice care
  • Monitor regulatory changes and guide agencies in proactively updating policies and procedures
  • Partner with Compliance on audits, corrective action plans, and risk mitigation

People Leadership & Culture

  • Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to strengthen recruitment, retention, and workforce planning
  • Champion Luminary's culture so staff feel valued, supported, and aligned to the mission
  • Lead through influence, building trust and engagement at every level of the organization

Business Growth & Market Expansion

  • Partner with business development to assess new markets, support agency start-ups, and drive census growth
  • Provide operational due diligence and integration support for acquisitions
  • Monitor the competitive landscape to help position Luminary as the hospice provider of choiceย

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and margin improvement
  • Collaborate with IT on tools, technology, and reporting for field operations

Job Qualifications:ย
