Position Summary

The Vice President, Technology and Innovation ("VP") is responsible for defining and executing Teladoc Health Canada's technology, product, innovation and cybersecurity strategy. The VP leads the development and delivery of Teladoc Health Canada's digital products and technology ecosystem, including product management, software engineering, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data and analytics, technology operations, and innovation. The role is accountable for building a secure, reliable, scalable, and modern technology environment that enables high-quality virtual and hybrid care, an exceptional client, clinician, and patient experience, and operational excellence.

The VP provides executive leadership for Teladoc Health Canada's digital strategy and multi-year technology roadmap, ensuring technology investments and product capabilities align with Canadian market needs, regulatory requirements, enterprise priorities, and Teladoc Health's global strategy. Working closely with clinical, commercial, operations, legal, privacy, compliance, and global technology leaders, the VP plays a key role in advancing Teladoc Health Canada's enterprise data governance framework and responsible use of data and AI, while delivering technology solutions that drive revenue growth, innovation, quality of care, security, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Delivery

  • Develop and refresh Teladoc Health Canada's digital strategy and multi-year technology roadmap aligned with organizational strategy and business objectives;

  • Provide secure, scalable, resilient and sustainable digital solutions and technology infrastructure that meet Canadian business, market and regulatory requirements;

  • Lead the strategy, design, development, delivery, and lifecycle management of Teladoc Health Canada's technology ecosystem, including enterprise architecture, applications, integrations, infrastructure, and digital platforms;

  • Develop and execute Teladoc Health Canada's cybersecurity strategy, ensuring appropriate security controls, resilience, and cybersecurity risk management across technology platforms and information assets

  • Own the budget, portfolio, and project management of digital initiatives and ongoing technology operations, ensuring disciplined prioritization, resource allocation, and value delivery; and

  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with technology partners and vendors.

Product Strategy & Delivery

  • Lead Teladoc Canada's multi-year product roadmap to enable operational excellence, high-quality clinical care, commercial growth, and exceptional client, clinician and patient experiences;

  • Translate market, regulatory, clinical, and operational requirements into innovative digital products;

  • Champion user-centred design by incorporating the perspectives of clients, clinicians, patients, and internal users throughout the product lifecycle to deliver intuitive, accessible, and seamless digital experiences; and

  • Integrate customer feedback, clinical insights, analytics, and user research into product planning, development and continuous improvement.

Data, Analytics & AI Enablement

  • Lead the operational implementation of Teladoc Health Canada's enterprise data governance framework, including data architecture, stewardship, quality, metadata, lifecycle management, and data governance technologies, in partnership with the legal, privacy and compliance teams, and business stakeholders.

  • Champion enterprise analytics, business intelligence, and AI-enabled capabilities that support operational excellence, clinical quality, innovation, and informed business decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable data management capabilities that enable high-quality clinical insights, operational intelligence, performance measurement, forecasting, and the responsible use of AI.

  • Oversee enterprise data and analytics for the Canadian business, delivering timely, accurate, and actionable insights that support strategic planning, operational performance, and continuous improvement.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Partner with legal, privacy and compliance teams to ensure technology solutions meet applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, security, and clinical quality requirements, relevant market standards and clinical-quality expectations (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA, provincial health and privacy regulations, virtual care standards, responsible AI practices);

  • Establish and oversee technology governance, including enterprise architecture, software development lifecycle (SDLC), cybersecurity, and cloud governance frameworks and processes, while partnering with the legal, privacy and compliance teams on enterprise data and AI governance and technology vendor risk management; and

  • Identify, assess, and manage technology and cybersecurity risks by implementing appropriate controls, monitoring, and mitigation strategies to support the organization's enterprise risk management framework, business resilience, audit readiness, and compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.

Technology Operations & Cybersecurity

  • Ensure reliable, scalable, and secure IT operations that support business continuity, organizational growth, and compliance with applicable organizational, contractual, and regulatory requirements;

  • Oversee the performance, availability, and reliability of Teladoc Health Canada's technology ecosystem through proactive monitoring, incident management, issue triage, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience;

  • Provide executive oversight of Teladoc Health Canada's cybersecurity program, including information security operations, vulnerability management, identity and access management, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, and continuous enhancement of security controls.

  • Lead technology support services for clinicians, clients, and internal users, while coordinating with Global/International teams on shared platforms, infrastructure, devices (e.g., HHS, GSD), escalation management, and operational support.

People, Culture & Capability Building

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary technology organization;

  • Strengthen organizational capabilities across product management, software engineering, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data and AI, cloud and infrastructure, and technology operations;

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, accountability, collaboration, security-by-design, and user-centred product development.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics, Business or related field (advanced degree preferred);

  • 12+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in technology, product management, digital transformation, and/or data and analytics, within healthcare, virtual/hybrid care, or a highly regulated sector;

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute technology strategies that align with organizational objectives and deliver measurable business outcomes;

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, data and analytics, AI, and emerging technology trends;

  • Demonstrated experience leading technology modernization, digital transformation, and enterprise technology operations;

  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with clinical, commercial, operations, legal, privacy, and compliance functions, and global counterparts;

  • Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary, distributed, and high-performing teams within a complex, multinational corporate structure; and

  • Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities, with a proven track record of managing technology portfolios, product roadmaps, budgets, vendors, and delivery outcomes.
