My client is looking for their next GM/VP of Operations with extensive experience in strategy and management. This position will be part of the executive leadership team and will be eligible for long-term equity incentives.

The organization provides accounting, tax, advisory, and business support services to a large client base of small businesses and independent operators. The General Manager / Vice President of Operations will help ensure operational excellence across tax, accounting, client service, and administrative functions while supporting growth, compliance, and client retention initiatives.

This is more than an operations leadership role. The General Manager / Vice President of Operations will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, helping shape the future direction of the organization and influencing the decisions that drive growth, profitability, client experience, and long-term enterprise value.

Working directly with the President and executive leadership, this individual will play a critical role in evaluating business opportunities, improving operational performance, expanding service capabilities, and executing strategic initiatives that support sustainable revenue growth. The successful candidate will have a seat at the table where important business decisions are made and will be expected to contribute both operational expertise and strategic business insight.


Operations & Service Delivery

  • Partner with accounting, advisory, and business leadership to ensure efficient delivery of recurring client services and strategic engagements.
  • Develop operational strategies that enhance client experience while supporting business growth, resource optimization, and service quality.
  • Improve capacity planning, workflow management, and resource allocation across client service teams.
  • Monitor service quality, turnaround times, client retention, and key operational performance metrics.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, scalability, and consistency across service delivery functions.


Financial & Business Management

  • Maintain a strong understanding of accounting, advisory, and professional services operations to support informed business decisions.
  • Collaborate with leadership on service line profitability, pricing strategies, client retention initiatives, and resource planning.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives, operational planning, and continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices that improve service delivery, team performance, and client outcomes.


Desired Experience

  • Senior leadership experience within accounting, financial services, consulting, professional services, or another operationally complex organization.
  • CPA; public accounting, outsourced accounting, advisory, consulting, finance, or operational leadership
  • Experience managing or supporting accounting services, client advisory, consulting engagements, recurring service offerings, or multi-client environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through periods of growth, changing priorities, and evolving client demands while maintaining service excellence.
  • Strong understanding of professional services economics, client retention strategies, workflow management, staff development, and operational performance.
  • Proven ability to implement technology, automation, and process improvements that drive efficiency, scalability, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills with the ability to align teams around strategic objectives.


Compensation is 175 - 225K plus 10-15% bonus. Equity in the company is available in the long term.
