Job description

Overview

This is a newly created position at Gentiva Hospice.

The Vice President of Clinical Quality will define and routinely evaluate effectiveness of a streamlined process for TPE education, chart review, and accountability by engaging cross functional teams to foster broader expertise and shared responsibility. This role will monitor audit process by reviewing results and promptly communicate strategies and process effectiveness to all relevant stakeholders, ensuring risks of future audits are mitigated and strategies for positive outcomes are determined in a timely manner. Vice President of Clinical Quality will develop an education process/plan for office leaders to ensure all staff are aware of TPE potential and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness and retention of this education. This role will integrate a sustainability framework to ensure that improvements and best practices are embedded into daily operations for lasting impact. This role will integrate routine root cause analysis into the monitoring and development process to proactively identify underlying factors contributing to office risk. The Vice President of Clinical Quality will ensure that education related to audit risk, audit processes, and the results of root cause investigations is clearly communicated to all relevant staff.

Essential Functions

  • Direct supervisor of Director of Clinical Quality.
  • Conducts comprehensive reviews of current SOPs, identifying and implementing proactive, collaborative strategies to prevent additional TPE and to increase impact in Rounds 1 & 2.
  • Ensures ongoing oversight and partnership among relevant departments for current Round 3 offices.
  • Facilitates the creation of high-quality documentation for MAC review and promoting alignment across all key stakeholders.
  • Establish clear guidelines that promote the consistent application of processes, with periodic reviews to adapt to evolving audit requirements and office needs.
  • Fosters innovation by generating ideas and developing business cases for technology solutions that streamline and enhance the overall TPE process, leveraging digital tools and automation where appropriate to drive efficiency, transparency, and measurable outcomes.
  • Reviews the status of claims pulled-whether favorable or unfavorable-and adjust actions accordingly to achieve optimal results, sharing key updates and recommendations without delay.
  • Develops new strategies to proactively support offices in preventing audit failures, and ensure these strategies, along with their effectiveness, are communicated consistently and efficiently across teams.
  • Oversees the documentation process for all IDG members and build competencies in quality by empowering leaders with tools and processes, incorporating feedback mechanisms and periodic evaluations to gauge learning outcomes.
  • Provides ongoing education to NMD to promote awareness and support at the office level when identified needs arise, routinely measuring the impact of educational initiatives to inform continuous improvement.
  • Develops and share a communication plan outlining the sustainability framework through an appropriate cadence, utilizing multiple channels-such as team meetings, digital newsletters, and training sessions-to ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Provides regular updates on progress, highlight success stories, and solicit feedback to foster a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement.
  • Monitors the existing process to ensure effectiveness and development of staff. Ensures proper process of accountability of documentation education is sustained.
  • Utilizes findings from these analyses to inform targeted education and implement proactive actions that effectively mitigate risk.
  • Monitors agency level adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Monitors compliance of patient records and quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborates with Vice President, and Area Vice Presidents of Operations.
  • Assists agencies in meeting and exceeding all applicable regulatory and company requirements, by ensuring the implementation of the company's systems, policies and standards in readiness preparation for all inspections, surveys, and reviews, including state licensure, federal certifications, and accreditations.
  • Collaborates with operational leadership on quality, regulatory survey outcomes and process improvement. Additionally, ensures Clinical Quality Team's support of unfavorable internal survey or external conditional survey outcomes.
  • Assists with the proper handling and resolution of any complaints from patients, families, and the public.
  • Participates in the hospice's quality assessment and performance improvement program activities.
About You

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of documentation, and the interpretation and application of regulations and performance improvement standards required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as federal guidelines for hospice services. Knowledgeable in OSHA regulations.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams; mentoring team members
  • Confident presenter and persuasive speaker. Ability to communicate effectively; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong follow up skills.
  • Exercises professional judgement and demonstrates excellent problem resolution skills.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and methodologies preferred.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Extensive travel and frequent overnight travel

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing, RN preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years previous managerial experience, of which 5 years is in Hospice/Home Health service industry for a certified agency, is preferred.

License/Certification:

  • Valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance coverage.
  • Unencumbered and active RN license in state of residence required

Training/Equipment:

  • Computer skills to include solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
  • Basic PowerPoint skills
  • Experience using reporting tools and databases to review data in electronic systems.
  • Experience with HomeCare-HomeBase preferred.
