Position description:


At WET, our Vice President of Architecture and Facilities Engineering demonstrate synergy of left brain—right brain mastery. They can seamlessly blend art and science, navigate established technology in pursuit of innovation, and embrace the challenge of client-centric deadlines and expectations.

The VP of A&FE is an intellectual who can relate to the concept of dreaming-to-reality through the art of crafting mechanical and electrical systems synergistically into the built environment and surrounding landscapes. Collaborate closely with designers, generating architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction drawings, supported with artistic conceptual sketches, prototype working models, conceptual cost estimates, and technical assumptions, to generate a bid/tender package complete enough for contractor pricing and execution.


A WET, VP of A&FE will also:


  • Manage the Architects and Engineers in the A&FE Department through the entire project from conception to completion, including budget compliance, engineering responsibilities, and coordination of deliverables, through construction administration and hand over to the end user.
  • Participate and support Designers, through Blue Sky and Concept Design development, providing input on constructibility, feasibility and budget, and aid in project transition from Concept Design to Schematic Design and beyond.
  • Provide oversight of Architects and Engineers providing Construction Administration services supporting field installation of WET and Contractor provided equipment.
  • Oversight of the Department Standards and completeness of the Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents deliverables. Ensuring compliance with Contractual Scope and Schedule obligations.
  • Present projects for formal review at various stages of progress and oversee the evaluation of comments and responses for project impact in accordance with contractual commitments.


Requirements:


  • Undergraduate or preferably Graduate Degrees in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng)
  • 15-25 years of related experience in multidisciplinary consulting engineering and/or technical project management.
  • Associate Principal or Principal level experience.
  • Experience in the design and engineering of facility electrical and mechanical systems, including fluency with piping and instrumentation systems and diagrams, electrical single line diagrams and panel drawings.
  • Experienced and understanding of the delineation of scope in the design phase and construction phase in preparing detailed reports and schedules, responding to contractor questions in writing, and accurately articulating resolutions.
  • Electrical power/signal and mechanical hydraulics/pneumatics knowledge.
  • Experience with domestic and international projects and equally proficient in imperial and metric units.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam and the full suite of MS Office Programs. Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks proficiency a plus.
  • Candidates must have strong presentation, verbal, and written skills.
  • Willingness/eagerness to learn about WET made equipment and WET manufacturing processes, as required to ensure completeness of Architecture and Facilities Engineering deliverables.
  • Opportunity to travel for projects.
