Role Description The Volvo Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at Johnson Volvo Cars Durham in Durham, NC. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Volvo vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards and dealership guidelines. Daily tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, completing service and repair orders, and documenting work performed using dealership systems. The technician collaborates with service advisors to communicate vehicle status, repair needs, and timing to ensure a positive customer experience. This role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work environment, using appropriate tools and equipment, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with Volvo technologies and service procedures.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to perform automotive diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on modern vehicles, preferably with experience working on Volvo or other European brands.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, engines, brakes, suspension, and computerized diagnostic equipment to accurately identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, technical bulletins, and service documentation, and to follow manufacturer and dealership repair procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and capability to maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with service advisors, parts personnel, and other technicians, and to clearly explain technical information.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an automotive training program or technical school and ASE certifications are preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Willingness to participate in Volvo-specific training and manufacturer certification programs to advance technical skills and career growth.
