Description
I. INTRODUCTION
  • This position is located at Raleigh Radiology, a freestanding outpatient imaging center located in Wake County, NC, and the surrounding areas.
  • The primary function of the Technologist - Sonographer at Raleigh Radiology is to provide outpatient ultrasound exams. In addition, you must be registered as a Sonographer and provide diagnostic outpatient procedures.
  • The technologist must be registered in any subspecialty of Sonography with ARDMS or ARRT.

General Diagnostic Duties
  • Maintains standards of professional care and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Implements policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
  • Performs procedures ordered in a safe, efficient, and professional manner to include all required views.
  • Assesses patient's condition (physical and psychosocial); prioritizes needs, sets goals, and responds appropriately to meet those needs, which includes discharge teaching.
  • Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions to care rendered.
  • Assists with specific tests and procedures as needed.
  • Participates in the economic utilization of supplies.
  • Ensures that equipment is always maintained and available for use.
  • Assists co-workers and physicians in giving care to patients.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication.
  • Utilizes teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals.
  • Assists with / or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse occurrences in patients.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and well-maintained supply environment for patients and staff.
  • On regular, sustained basis, cooperates with other staff members both inside and outside the department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting other in accomplishing theirs; serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization, always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness and respect; conducts oneself in service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, sensitive, respectful and kind when dealing with team members, visitors, public and all employees.
  • Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned, which may include, but are not limited to, scheduling.

Patient Care Activities:
  • Gather and document patient history.
  • Engage with patients for a positive experience.
  • Perform assessments (vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, etc.).
  • Continuously monitor patients during their visit.
  • Assess physical and psychological state, and respond to emergencies.
  • Start emergency procedures like CPR if needed.
  • Document changes in patient condition and understanding of procedures.
  • Provide accurate patient history to the Radiologist.
  • Relay reports and communicate with peers for quality care.
