Job description

Answer the Call. Become a Volunteer Firefighter.

Serve your community. Train with professionals. Make a difference.

Seaside Fire & Rescue is seeking committed individuals to join our team as Volunteer Firefighters - a non-paid, no-benefits position offering real emergency response experience and professional training. This is your opportunity to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with career firefighters and make a tangible impact in the Seaside community.

Volunteer Firefighters respond to fire and medical emergencies 24/7 and train regularly to maintain operational readiness. You will ride fire apparatus to emergency scenes, operate hose lines and ladders, assist with ventilation and forcible entry, support Basic Life Support alongside EMTs, and participate in drills and public education efforts.

Why Volunteer with Seaside Fire & Rescue?

  • Respond to real structure fires and medical emergencies

  • ‍ Train alongside experienced, career fire professionals

  • Gain hands-on Basic Life Support experience

  • Learn technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and fireground operations

  • Build leadership, discipline, and lifelong camaraderie

  • Serve your hometown with pride and purpose

This role requires commitment. Volunteers must attend regular Wednesday evening drills (minimum of two per month) and respond when paged. Candidates must reside or work within the district, pass a background check, a drug and alcohol screen (including marijuana), a physical ability test, and hold a valid Oregon driver's license.

While unpaid, the experience is invaluable. You will receive professional training, real-world emergency exposure, and the opportunity to serve in one of the most respected roles in public safety.

Volunteer. Serve. Lead.

If you are ready to answer the call and commit to something bigger than yourself, Seaside Fire & Rescue is ready to train and support you.
