West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking a Full Time High School Spanish Teacher for the upcoming 26/27 School year. Must have teacher certification and endorsement.
WMAA is an innovative, academically rigorous charter high school with a focus on hands-on aviation and STEM education. Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging lessons and a dynamic learning environment while fostering a love for the Spanish language and culture. The Spanish Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
  • Develop and deliver high-quality Spanish language instruction to students
  • Incorporate cultural activities and resources to enhance language learning and promote an appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Cognitive Demands:
  • Supervision of multiple students at once
  • Establishing routines and procedures
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
  • Create and implement instructional plans

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
  • Stand and walk frequently
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
  • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
  • Withstand a moderate noise level
  • Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
  • Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, Linguistics, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
