Job description

) Hospice Companion Volunteers provide emotional support and meaningful companionship to patients receiving hospice care. Through presence, conversation, and simple shared activities, volunteers help reduce loneliness and bring comfort, dignity, and connection.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly companionship and emotional support
  • Engage in conversation, active listening, or quiet presence
  • Assist with non-medical activities such as reading, music, letter writing, or reminiscing
  • Offer respite and support to family caregivers
  • Observe and report concerns to hospice staff as needed
  • Respect patient privacy, confidentiality, and personal preferences
  • Follow hospice policies and safety guidelines
Volunteer Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Completion of hospice volunteer orientation and training
  • Compassionate, dependable, and respectful
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
  • Background check and health screening required
  • This position has a flexible time commitment
  • This position requires reliable transportation
