Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements listed below.

1. Assisting senior level shipwrights with building and maintaining submarine drydocking equipment.
2. Read and interpret blueprints and instructions assigned within the shipwright trade.
3. Assisting senior level shipwrights with fabricating wooden articles and equipment such as shoring, work benches, and plaque boards.
4. Assisting senior level shipwrights in building and positioning cradles, hull blocks, bilge blocks, and other structures used to dry dock vessels.
5. Assists senior level shipwrights with the construction of staging and scaffolding for elevated work such as sandblasting and painting.

2. Read and interpret blueprints, instructions, specifications, and docking worksheets to perform jobs assigned within the shipwright trade.
3. Fabricating wooden articles and equipment such as showing, cribbing, wedges, chart tables, work benches, and plaque boards.
4. Assign work and give guidance to junior level shipwrights based on the experience level of the junior shipwright, ensuring policies and safety guidelines are met.
5. Establishing lines and layouts based on frame numbers for installation of pad eyes and layout of equipment for exterior surfaces.
