Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up, runs, and monitors production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. This role includes loading raw materials, adjusting machine settings, inspecting finished products, and palletizing envelopes while maintaining accurate production records and a clean work area.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, configure, and prepare machinery based on daily production schedules and technical specifications.
  • Load raw materials into machines and ensure continuous supply during production runs.
  • Run and monitor machines throughout operation to maintain consistent performance and product quality.
  • Adjust machine settings as needed to meet product specifications and resolve minor production issues.
  • Inspect final products for quality, accuracy, and consistency, and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Palletize envelopes and finished products onto pallets in an organized and safe manner.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues, clear jams, and perform minor repairs or tool changes to minimize downtime.
  • Document production data, including material usage, output metrics, and any issues encountered during the shift.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in and around the work area to support safety and efficiency.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery and handling materials.
  • Collaborate with team members on the production line to ensure smooth workflow and meet production targets.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in machine operation or general production environments.
  • Ability to set up, calibrate, and configure production equipment according to technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated skill in loading raw materials and monitoring machines during operation.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting finished products and recording production data.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine issues, clear jams, and perform minor repairs or tool changes.
  • Capability to document production data, material usage, and output metrics accurately.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining good housekeeping and following safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle materials, and palletize products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in general labor, packaging, or general production work.
  • Experience working with multiple machines or production lines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with quality control practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small production team.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new equipment and processes.

Why Work Here?

You will join a production team that values reliability, safety, and continuous improvement. Benefits become available quickly upon conversion, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options, supporting your long-term well-being and financial security. The role offers hands-on experience with industrial equipment, opportunities to build technical skills, and the chance to grow within a structured manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with multiple production lines and machinery. The environment is not temperature controlled, so it can be very hot in the summer and colder in the winter; large fans are planned to improve airflow. The area will operate with four machines, initially staffed with four people per line and eventually transitioning to two people per line as processes stabilize. Noise levels are moderate due to machinery, and there is a noticeable glue-like smell in the air. Team members work around industrial equipment and are expected to follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area. Appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort in this setting.
