Who will you be working with?
As part of the Wabtec Digital Intelligence organization, the Surface Transportation software group is a best-in-class team with highly successful product lines for the rail industry. Our products support rail customer operations for positive train control, dispatch systems, SCADA, and customer information management and include both back office and front facing components. Our successful products are deployed in over 30 customer operational systems and we continue to develop the next generation of our products for future growth in areas such as positive train control, high speed rail, and data analytics.
How will you make a difference?
As a Senior Engineer in the Surface Transportation Group, you will be responsible for supporting Wabtec's Positive Train Control hosted environment for nearly 20 railroad customers. You will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the systems and service as well as interacting with our customers. You will be working with applications (such as Crew/Consist Servers, Mobile Device Managers (MDM) Servers and Key Exchange servers), messaging software (Interoperable Train Control Messaging (ITCM)), and network communications.
What do we want to know about you?
You must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or closely related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience on an engineering or production support engineering team
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in positive train control (PTC) back-office operations
  • Knowledge of railroad system operations or communications
  • Strong experience with ITCM and PTC
  • Strong experience AWS Cloud and Terraform
  • Strong understanding of IP networks
  • Strong understanding and usage of Linux operating system, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows server operating systems
  • Server system administration skills
  • Experience with configuration management, defect tracking, and problem resolution
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, and query of relational database (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server)

Our preference is to hire this role working on a hybrid in-office schedule at Jacksonville, FL; Gambrills, MD; Fort Worth, TX; or Pittsburgh, PA locations. Relocation assistance may be provided if eligibility requirements are met.

The salary rate for this role is currently $104800-149300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
