Job description

Job Description:
The Waterfront Staff Assistant will provide the office support necessary to continue the growth and enhancement of SUNY Maritime College's Waterfront activities and Community Programs. The Waterfront Staff Assistant will directly support the four full-time Waterfront staff and assist sailing and rowing coaches as well as Community Programs staff.
Responsibilities:
Office Administration (40%)
  • Order supplies and course materials
  • Manage accounts payable/receivables
  • Maintain accurate records (i.e., orders, expenses, calendars, boat, trailer, sail inventories)
  • Manage staff onboarding
Coordinate Community Programs (40%)
  • Manage promotion, registration, and fulfillment for community programs (i.e. summer camp, swimming lessons, first aid classes, sailing and powerboat classes)
  • Provide outstanding customer service in-person, on the phone, and online
  • Arrange program logistics and scheduling assets and instructors/coaches
  • Assist with execution of programs and special events
Support the success of colleagues and other duties as assigned (20%)
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree
  • 2-3 years of experience working in an office environment
  • Organized, attention to details, enthusiastic, willing to continually learn and grow
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with Slate or other database/CRM systems
  • Experience with Coursestorm, Marketplace or other program registration software
  • Experience with collegiate student activities and/or community programs, particularly summer camps, sailing or water related activities
  • Experience administering community programs and/or special events
  • Experience with social media and digital media

Additional Information:
Classification/Salary Range: The Staff Assistant is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range is $60,000 - $70,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience with an outstanding benefits package (for more information please see the UUP-FT-Benefits-at-a-Glance.pdf). Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
