Job description

High Point University (High Point, North Carolina), Athletic department is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant Women's Rowing Coach. HPU is an NCAA Division I program and member of the Mid-American Conference. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of coaching and administration of the HPU women's rowing program.
POSITION SUMMARY:
High Point University (High Point, North Carolina), Athletic department is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant Women's Rowing Coach. HPU is an NCAA Division I program and member of the Mid-American Conference. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of coaching and administration of the HPU women's rowing program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Experience and Training
  • NCAA rowing experience strongly preferred.
  • Collegiate Coaching experience preferred.
  • USRowing Level 1 certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
  • Proficient in the technical knowledge of women's rowing
  • Capability to instruct student-athletes and increase their athletic performance.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Instructs student-athletes, improving skill, sport performance and leadership.
  • Assists Head Coach in coaching student-athletes.
  • Counsels team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters; assists in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes.
  • Evaluates, recruits, and recommends prospective student-athletes.
  • Monitors the conditioning and training of student-athletes.
  • Participates in analysis of past performance, designing training plans, etc.
  • Supervises travel arrangements for the team, including housing, transportation and meal arrangements for all players, coaches, and staff.
  • Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students' parents, faculty, co-workers, and managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Leads student-athletes in their academic, physical and leadership development.
  • Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program.
  • May supervise volunteer coaches and/or student assistants.
