Job description

Radiology Assistant

Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

Greets customers, explains paperwork, wait times, exam delays, and reporting process.

Answers telephones promptly, records and delivers messages, transfers calls

Communicates with nursing units, physicians, and other imaging departments to coordinate care of the patient

Ensures orders are valid, have all required elements, and entered appropriately into RIS, ensures ordering physician is correct, documents pertinent information.

Assists in the completion of screening paperwork

Assists in transferring/transporting patients

Maintain infection prevention standards

Assists technologist with room setup and supply management.

Open to and actively seeks to improve and apply new skills.

Trains new employees in learning department processes and protocols.

Maintains departmental compliance logs.

Participates in performance improvement processes.

What qualifications you will need:

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS Course Completion and Certification
  • The Radiology Assistant is required to have intermediate computer skills, excellent communication and customer service skills. Experience with Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of medical terminology.
