Reporting to the Director Reputation and Member Engagement and supporting the Head of Communications and a team of communicators, this role is a key contributor to a variety of projects and initiatives from across the Communications Division, including internal, external and member communications. With a heavy focus on tactical output, this position plays an integral role in bringing the Servus story and brand to life across all of Servus’s communications channels.

In addition to supporting project work, the role also provides coordination, administrative, and logistical support for initiatives within the Department, including for team meetings and project tracking in Asana.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide support for communications programs and projects across the Department. This includes developing and implementing a range of internal and external communications tactics.
  • Write content for a variety of communications channels, encompassing a range of formats including print, digital and video.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to team initiatives.
  • Support the Head of Communications and the Communications Leadership Team as required.
  • Provide backup support for publishing across all channels.
  • Assist with initiatives designed to drive social media amplification amongst staff and members.
  • Work with colleagues to support and identify reputational threats across Servus's social media platforms. 
  • Support the team to manage proactive and reactive media relations activities including delivering timely media responses, supporting earned media opportunities, and supporting the coordination of paid media opportunities
  • Collaborate with and provide communications support to a team of Strategic Communications Partners and Communications Leads on key portfolios and strategic initiatives across Servus.
  • Provide logistical support for Department initiatives, including townhalls and internal/external events, including coordination and booking of events.
  • Support monitoring and reporting across the Division through compiling analytics and updating reports.
  • Other duties as required

What you bring: 

Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of communications experience.
  • Strong writing skills are preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification: IABC or CPRS membership is considered an asset.

Any other special requirements necessary to do the job: 

  • Remote first
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet business needs, support special projects or contribute to crisis or issues management. Travel within Alberta, and occasional in-office attendance in Edmonton or Calgary, may be required.
