Job description

 Full Time, Hourly | $23.00-25.00 per hour

What is needed for this job as our Positive Behavioral Specialist:

  • 21+ preferred, 5+ years experience working within youth development

  • Bachelor’s degree in field that meets PA DHS requirements

  • Current or prior experience in education, recreation, child psychology or related fields

  • Knowledge of community resources and experience with a variety of agencies

  • Skill in individual and group assessments and treatment techniques

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Positive Behavioral Specialist:

  • Work closely with families, onsite staff, and external service providers to ensure that age appropriate services and support are in place for students who have emotional and behavioral challenges to be successful in an inclusive environment

  • Provide individual incident/case support, conduct observations that focus on positive behavior management and youth development

  • Locate, coordinate, and monitor services for students in the program in collaboration with student’s onsite team so students make meaningful progress towards identified goals and outcomes

  • Provide behavior management resources and best practices to Y staff, and program participants/family

  • Prepare reports to track progress and identify trends

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and carry out responsibilities during times of crisis

  • Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a cooperative staff relationship with all personnel in the program setting

  • Demonstrate understanding, patience, and receptiveness towards students of various age groups, temperaments, and abilities

  • Ability to formulate eligibility recommendations for emotional impairment
