Can nurses volunteer at homeless shelters?

Nurses, including registered nurses (RNs), can volunteer at homeless shelters to provide basic healthcare services, health education, and support. Volunteering often requires relevant certifications, such as CPR or first aid, and adherence to shelter policies and confidentiality standards.

What can I do instead of being a nurse?

As a Volunteer Navihealth RN, if you seek alternatives to nursing, you can consider roles in healthcare administration, patient advocacy, health education, or medical assisting. These positions often require related skills, certifications, or experience in healthcare environments. Transitioning to roles such as health coach or medical technician can also be options depending on your background.

How can I volunteer as an RN?

To volunteer as an RN, you should contact local healthcare organizations, clinics, or community health programs that accept volunteer nurses. Many organizations require current licensure, background checks, and sometimes specific training or certifications such as CPR. Volunteering often involves flexible schedules and providing care in community settings or health outreach events.

What is the side hustle of a retired nurse?

A retired nurse, such as a Volunteer Navihealth RN, can pursue side hustles like telehealth consulting, health coaching, or freelance medical writing. These roles often leverage their clinical skills and healthcare knowledge, typically requiring certification and flexible schedules.
