St. Malachy Catholic School in Tamarac (Broward County), Florida is hiring for a part-time Music Teacher for the current year. We are seeking a qualified candidate to teach Music in the classroom, play in school masses, and direct a student choir. This teacher will be expected to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program of music for all grade levels. The Music Teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will vary based on certification and years of service.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music.
  • Florida Department of Education Teacher Certificate, Temporary or Professional required.
  • Possess performance proficiency in a keyboard instrument used in liturgical celebration and voice/choral performance experience.
  • Knowledge of keyboard technique, liturgical service-playing techniques, group vocal techniques and experience in choral conducting.
  • Familiarity with the vast repertoire of sacred music available today, both contemporary and treasured.
  • Ability to multi-task and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with capacity to interact with priests, professional and volunteer musicians, parishioners, and parish staff.
  • Effective oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
  • Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with considerable knowledge and familiarity of the Roman Catholic liturgy and an ability to integrate the liturgy with musical skills so that the liturgical music component of worship can be celebrated.
  • Must obtain catechetical certification from the Archdiocese of Miami Office of Catechesis within three years of hire.
  • Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in Roman Catholic environment preferred.
  • Must have a professional demeanor, including dress code.
