Job Summary/Basic Function
The Student Math Coach is responsible for assisting students enrolled in courses that the Math Lab services with their math content questions. Student Math Coaches may work as both embedded tutors in the classroom and as lab assistants in our Math Lab. Students must have solid Algebra skills and be able to communicate those skills in an environment where they are seen as the expert. Math Coaches may also be utilized to tutor trigonometry, geometry, Calculus and Statistics based on coach skills and need within the Lab.

Required Relevant Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED
Required Field(s) of Study
Mathematics Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics, or related field.
Applicants must have taken Math 115 (or a higher math class) and passed with a grade of B or better.
If applicant has Freshman Status, he or she should have earned at least a 550 SAT Math score and have taken Math Classes at least through Pre-Calculus in High School. Freshmen should also have earned a score of 16 or higher on the Maple TA.

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Math Coaches are responsible for providing exemplary customer service while assisting students with their mathematical questions. Student Math Coaches will also be asked to monitor student attendance in the Math Lab and perform other duties for math instructors as assigned. Coaches may also assist in the classroom setting.
