Volunteer Description:

Volunteers at Intermountain Healthcare serve in a variety of meaningful capacities that support our patients, visitors, and staff. As an unpaid volunteer, you contribute valuable time and talent that truly make a difference in our organization.The volunteer program requires the following:
  • A minimum sixmonth consecutive commitment.

  • 3-4 hours weekly.

  • Consistent attendance.

  • 16 years of age.

  • Work alone and independently.

  • Good communication and listening skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Physical mobility (walking, bending, standing).

  • Adequate hearing and vision.

  • Sensitive to patient and family situations.

Volunteer opportunities are available in a variety of service areas based on current need, including:
  • Guest Services - Engaging with individuals consistently, helping them find their way within the facility and to their appointments, maybe even escort them in a wheelchair.

  • Department Support - Assisting patients and staff on an individual nursing unit.

  • Surgical Waiting Room - Keeping guests updated regarding their patient having surgery.

  • Emergency Room - Assisting patients/staff in the Emergency Room, meeting their needs.

  • Gift Shop Assistant - Assisting customers with their purchases, pricing items, and using the cash register.

  • Music - Playing an instrument in the Hospital Lobby.

  • Transportation (Golf Cart) - Escorting guests within the facility and the campus.

  • Courtesy Cart - Offering items of comfort to patients within the hospital.
