Job description

Financial Services Litigation Associate – Los Angeles / San Francisco

Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a 4th–6th year Litigation Associate with an interest in financial services litigation and representing broker-dealers and registered representatives in FINRA arbitrations, securities sales practice matters, and related proceedings.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, cross-office team handling sophisticated litigation matters with significant client interaction and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze complex legal issues and conduct legal research
  • Draft briefs and other litigation documents
  • Handle and participate in FINRA arbitrations and motion practice
  • Assist with deposition preparation, including outlines and exhibits
  • Support trial preparation, including direct and cross-examination materials
  • Manage written discovery, document review, and production
  • Work with experts and manage case-related projects
  • Communicate directly with clients and contribute to case strategy
Qualifications
  • 4–6 years of litigation experience
  • FINRA arbitration experience required
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience with complex litigation and case management
  • Deposition and trial preparation experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Law Review, Journal, and/or Moot Court experience preferred
  • California Bar admission and good standing required
  • Admission to the California federal district courts preferred but not required
Compensation & Benefits

$305,000–$390,000 per year, depending on experience and other factors.
