About Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia
The Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (Pozez JCC), located in Fairfax, Virginia, is a nonprofit, social service organization that builds community and enriches lives. The Pozez JCC is a community connector, offering a variety of programs and services on the main campus, online and throughout Northern Virginia through its many partnerships. Quality programs and experiences, based on Jewish values, include early childhood education, after-school & day camps, social programs for families raising young children, J-Fit health & aquatics activities, adult learning and cultural programs, inclusion and disabilities services, community impact through volunteerism, and more. Programs are open to people of all ages and backgrounds.

About the role
  • The Volunteer Services Manager will play a crucial role in further developing and managing a dynamic Volunteer Services at the Pozez JCC, offering opportunities across domains including social justice, food insecurity, youth programming, family programming, senior programs, and administrative tasks. The manager will oversee four major volunteer areas within the portfolio: NV Rides (a volunteer-led ride share program serving mostly seniors needing transportation to and from medical appointments), matching volunteers with needs in existing programs of the Pozez JCC, engaging volunteers around social impact initiatives along with strategic community partners, and using volunteering as a vehicle for community engagement.

What you'll do
1. Volunteer Services Operations:
  • Evaluate existing centralized hub for volunteer opportunities within the Pozez JCC and surrounding community and develop a plan for the next phase to improve current operations.
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessment of Pozez JCC programs to determine where volunteers may be utilized.
  • Work across the Pozez JCC organization to establish training for staff in working with and engaging volunteers.
  • Maintain established partnerships with local organizations and strategic partners to provide a diverse range of volunteer opportunities as well as seek out and establish new ones.
  • Supervise NV Rides Manager

2. Program Development:
  • Conduct a baseline assessment/survey of existing targeted audiences to examine their needs, motivations, and interests. Analyze results to create tailored programing.
  • Create targeted initiatives in areas such as addressing food insecurity, family support, and senior programs based on community needs assessment.
  • Collaborate with community leaders and strategic partners to design and implement programs that address social justice issues and contribute to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).
  • Ensure that programs align with the values and goals of the Pozez JCC and the broader Jewish community.
  • Develop and manage a network of volunteer leaders to establish micro communities throughout Northern Virginia with the purpose of engaging the Jewish community and broader community around meaningful service and social impact initiatives.

3. Volunteer Management:
  • Assess and suggest improvements in existing volunteer management system to identify and categorize volunteers based on their interests, research and identify opportunities as well as gaps in community services.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support various programs and initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer community, recognizing and celebrating volunteer contributions.
  • Provide ongoing support and communication to volunteers, addressing their needs and concerns.

4. Event Organization:
  • Plan and execute events and activities that bring the community together in Jewish learning and volunteerism.
  • Coordinate educational sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance volunteers' understanding of the impact of their work.
  • Organize recognition events to honor and appreciate volunteers for their dedication.

5. Marketing/Volunteer Recruitment:
  • In partnership with Pozez JCC Marketing and Communications department, evaluate and assess existing content and landing page for Volunteer Services on the Pozez JCC website.
  • In partnership with the Marketing and Communications department, develop outreach and marketing strategies to promote volunteer opportunities both within the Pozez JCC's existing programs and in the broader community.
  • In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications department, develop content promoting volunteerism.
  • Manage a content calendar to communicate with volunteers and potential volunteers, highlighting programs and events to support volunteerism.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in Community Organizing around social impact initiatives
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in volunteer management and program development.
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions and values is strongly preferred.
  • Track record of relationship building and stewarding, working in partnership with lay leaders, committees and stakeholders to achieve program goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.
