Job description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to support the buildout and enablement of a large-scale private cloud platform for enterprise data analytics workloads. This platform will support 70+ tenants and is a critical component of a broader data center migration initiative. The role focuses on core platform engineering, tenant enablement, observability, and security controls to ensure scalability, security, and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable private cloud platforms leveraging Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Configure and integrate compute, storage, and networking layers, including object storage and execution engines.
  • Support enterprise data center migration by configuring foundational infrastructure such as firewalls and load balancing.
  • Enable onboarding of 70+ tenant applications with defined access models, resource allocation, and environment setup.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful tenant adoption.
  • Design and implement observability frameworks including monitoring, alerting, and dashboards.
  • Develop automation solutions for provisioning, deployments, and operations.
  • Implement and maintain platform-level security and compliance controls.
  • Partner with networking, security, and infrastructure teams to support delivery and requirements definition.
  • Accelerate deliverables across platform buildout and tenant enablement.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with Kubernetes (OpenShift preferred).
  • Strong Linux background.
  • Proven experience building and configuring enterprise platforms from the ground up.
  • Experience designing and implementing observability solutions.
  • Hands-on expertise with Grafana, Prometheus, BigPanda, PagerDuty, ThousandEyes.
  • Automation experience with Terraform and Helm.
  • Familiarity with GitOps practices (Argo CD preferred).
  • Experience using ServiceNow.

Preferred Experience

  • Object Storage solutions.
  • Execution Engines (Spark, Trino).
  • Table formats (Iceberg, Hive).
  • Metadata Lineage tools (Datahub).
  • Advanced observability design (alerts, dashboards).
  • Automation with Terraform, Helm, GitOps (Argo CD).

Good to Have

  • OpenShift ingress/egress control for secure north-south traffic patterns.
  • Load balancing and traffic routing for high availability.
  • Network segmentation and isolation across tenants, namespaces, and environments.
  • Kubernetes/OpenShift Network Policies (default deny, least privilege).
