DATA ANALYST/BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST II
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Data Analyst II (Business Systems Analyst II) is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting data-driven analytical solutions that enhance capabilities, improve decision-making, and increase operational efficiency for the Credit Risk Review team. Reporting to the Data Analytics Manager, this role independently develops reporting solutions, automates manual processes, builds dashboards, and supports data modernization initiatives. The position serves as a technical partner by translating business requirements into efficient, scalable, and properly governed analytical solutions. Using SQL, Python, Tableau, Snowflake, Excel, AI tools, and other analytics technologies, the role contributes to the team's evolving data strategy while exercising judgment on high-priority and complex projects.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Data Analytics & Reporting
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, datasets, and analytical solutions.
  • Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, exceptions, and business insights.
  • Validate data quality and reconcile analytical results across multiple data sources.

Automation & Solution Development
  • Design and implement automated reporting and data preparation processes.
  • Develop and enhance data pipelines and workflow automation.
  • Create scalable, reusable analytical solutions that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
  • Support modernization initiatives involving Python, Snowflake, and cloud-based analytical technologies.
  • Design and develop AI agents and agentic solutions to automate workflows.

Business Partnership
  • Gather, clarify, and document business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical and analytical solutions.
  • Partner with business users throughout solution design, testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Provide basic to intermediate training on data and productivity tools to support team and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in software implementation and enhancement projects.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation, and data management processes.
  • Leverage RBC's internal AI tools to improve productivity, code development, documentation, and analysis while ensuring appropriate validation and governance.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and remain current with emerging analytics technologies and best practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of related regulatory and bank policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all Bank Administrative, Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to Credit Risk Review.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a related field: Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, business systems analysis, or financial/risk analytics.

Additional Qualifications
  • SQL, Tableau, and Advanced Excel.
  • Commercial banking or financial services experience.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to deliver analytical solutions.
  • Credit Risk, lending, portfolio management, or regulatory reporting.
  • Software implementation or business process improvement initiatives
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Tableau Desktop or similar business intelligence platform
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Python, Snowflake or other scripting languages preferred

Compensation
Starting base salary: $60,500 - $104,500 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
