DEPARTMENT:Center for Generations
POSITION TITLE:Kitchen Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO:Director of Center for Generations
EXPOSURE LEVEL:Category II
EXEMPTION STATUS:Non-exempt

SUMMARY:
Preparation, service and cleanup of meals to children of Center for Generation in compliance of CACFP requirements and paperwork that goes along with it. Cleaning and organizing of common areas. Works under the direct supervision of the Director and Assistant Director.
Supervision Received: This position reports to the Director of Center for Generations.
Internal Relationships: This position interacts and works with children, parents, and families of the Center for Generations, co-workers and volunteers at both the Center for Generations, and St. John's United, and the residents of St. John's.
External Relationships: This position has interaction with prospective parents and children for the Center for Generations, vendors, and guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Kitchen Coordinator
Plans breakfast and afternoon snack weekly.
Order the food needed to provide nutritious, program required foods to the children of Center for Generations for these two meals.
This position is responsible for inventorying, stocking, and ordering bathroom/kitchen supplies for Center for Generations.
Compliance paperwork, to include but not limited to, fridge/freezer temperature logs, documenting weekly menus, food preparation tracking, and other requirements per CACFP program.
Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and common areas.
Assuring all foods are labeled according to program requirements and food safety is maintained continually.
Collaborate with St. John's United kitchen staff pertaining to lunch. This includes supporting in meal rotation options, receiving lunch daily, and returning required items to appropriate location.
Participates in all required CACFP trainings
Serve prepared lunch to Center for Generations children while maintaining food safety and CACFP compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Childcare
Within the first year, complete assigned education to become childcare provider I status.
Once childcare I status is obtained, must be willing to help classrooms when necessary. Willing to help with other duties as assigned to cover breaks or being short staffed occasionally.
To comply with all St. John's United policies and procedures, all state and federal laws and regulations regarding child care services, and health and safety standards.
To attend staff meetings, appropriate workshops and other training.
To identify the need for supplies and equipment for the Center for Generations. To assure that equipment and facility is clean and in good repair.
To foster the developmental growth of all children, including physical development, cognitive development, social and emotional development.
To provide opportunities for children to engage in small and large group interactions, outside and inside play, special events, quiet and active play, rest and meal times, etc.
REQUIRED: Must have a high school diploma or HiSet. At least one year experience with food safety, ordering/purchasing, and proper sanitation methods. ServSafe Certified or willingness to be ServSafe Certified within the first 30 days.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be comfortable working around children in a childcare facility.
Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences in both verbal and written formats.
Must have good time management.
Flexible, to work cooperatively with children, coworkers, and family members at times under stressful and emotional conditions.
Safe food handling
Ability to understand and complete meal prep and portions.
Working Conditions:
Normal childcare facility environment. Normal health care facility environment. This position requires the person to stand, bend, kneel and twist and lift for prolonged periods of time. Incumbent must be able lift 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to work around plants and animals.
