Audio Visual Technician

Location: Ithaca, NY (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking an Audio Visual Technician to support technology environments within a fast-paced setting. This individual will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of audio visual equipment and video conferencing technologies while partnering with end users to deliver seamless technology experiences.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting AV systems, video conferencing platforms, and media technologies, along with strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesAudio Visual Support
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot audio visual equipment in classrooms, meeting spaces, and event locations.
  • Perform routine classroom technology checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Support projectors, displays, microphones, cameras, speakers, control systems, and presentation technology.
  • Diagnose and resolve audio, video, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and support live, hybrid, and virtual events.
Video Conferencing Support
  • Set up and support video conferencing solutions including Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, and similar platforms.
  • Monitor and manage audio, video, lighting, and presentation quality during meetings and events.
  • Troubleshoot conferencing issues related to connectivity, cameras, microphones, speakers, and room technology.
  • Provide technical assistance before and during scheduled meetings, presentations, and instructional sessions.
Technology Support
  • Partner with staff to assess and support technology needs.
  • Recommend solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and collaboration.
  • Provide training and guidance on the effective use of technologies.
  • Evaluate technology environments and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Support technology integration efforts across academic programs and initiatives.
Media Production & Videography
  • Assist with recording, streaming, and media production projects.
  • Operate and maintain video recording equipment.
  • Manage lighting, audio capture, microphones, and camera setups.
  • Support video editing and post-production activities as needed.
  • Ensure high-quality audio and video standards for recorded content.
Customer Support & Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between end users, technology teams, and vendors.
  • Respond to service requests and support tickets while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Analyze technology needs and user feedback to identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal technology teams on AV-related projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with staff, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of Audio Visual (AV) support experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and preparing AV equipment.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, or similar technologies.
  • Experience managing audio and video quality for meetings, events, and presentations.
  • 1+ years of videography experience, including lighting, sound systems, microphones, and recording equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with instructional technology support.
  • Knowledge of audio visual installation and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience with media production and video editing software.
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies and hybrid learning environments.
  • Experience supporting higher education, corporate training, or large conference environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ithaca, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
