Internship Opportunity: Brand Strategy & Consumer Insights Intern

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid; candidate must be available to work in-office 1–2 days per week.)

The Familie is a full-service sports and music management and representation agency representing talent across the entertainment and athletic industries. Headquartered in Nashville, The Familie also has offices in Los Angeles and Scottsdale.

Position Overview:

Unlisted and The Familie are seeking a curious, analytical, and strategically minded Brand Strategy & Consumer Insights Intern.

This internship is an educational opportunity designed to provide hands on exposure to the process of building, positioning, and growing consumer brands. Working primarily with the Unlisted team, the intern will work alongside our strategy and creative teams to learn how market research, consumer insights, cultural trends, and competitive analysis inform brand strategy and go to market decisions.

**Please note this is an unpaid internship, applicants MUST be eligible for class credit.**

Responsibilities/ Learning Opportunities:

  • Market & Category Research: Learn how to evaluate industries and product categories, including identifying emerging trends, market shifts, and potential areas of white space.
  • Consumer Research: Explore how to identify and understand target consumers, including demographics, behaviors, preferences, purchasing habits, and cultural influences
  • Competitive Landscape Analysis: Learn how to assess competitors, positioning, messaging, product offerings, pricing, and opportunities for differentiation.
  • White Space Identification: Participate in guided exercises to understand how unmet consumer needs and market opportunities can inform new brand, product, and category concepts.
  • Trend & Cultural Research: Explore emerging consumer, lifestyle, cultural, social, and industry trends and how they can influence brand strategy.
  • Brand Building: Gain exposure to the full brand-development process, from early research and positioning through creative development, product strategy, marketing, and go-to-market planning.
  • Strategic Thinking & Presentation: Learn how research and insights are synthesized into clear findings, strategic recommendations, and presentations.

This internship will include mentorship and guidance from members of the team, opportunities to observe real-world brand strategy projects, and feedback designed to help you develop foundational skills in consumer insights, research, strategy, and brand

Details:

Duration: 3 months, with flexible start and end dates based on academic calendar (Fall 2026)

Hours: 15- 20 hours per week

Compensation: Unpaid; student MUST eligible for academic credit

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a university and continue to be enrolled for the duration of the internship
  • Preferably pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, business, communications, consumer psychology, sociology, or a related field
  • Strong interest in brand strategy, consumer insights, market research, marketing, or brand development
  • Naturally curious with an interest in consumer behavior, culture, brands, and emerging trends
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to identify key themes and insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable organizing information and presenting findings in a clear and concise way
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and research assignments
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Google Slides, Google Sheets, or similar platforms
  • Ability to take direction, ask thoughtful questions, and collaborate with a team
  • Interest in consumer brands, sports, music, entertainment, fashion, beauty, culture, and/or lifestyle is a plus
  • Preferably juniors or seniors
