What are Volume Operators in Virtual Production?

Volume Operators in Virtual Production are specialized technicians responsible for controlling and managing the LED volume stages used in filmmaking and live events. They operate the complex systems that display virtual environments on large LED walls, ensuring that the visuals synchronize seamlessly with camera movement and lighting. Their work allows filmmakers to create realistic backgrounds and immersive settings in real time, reducing the need for green screens and post-production compositing. Volume Operators often collaborate with directors, camera crews, and VFX teams to achieve the desired visual effects and maintain the illusion of real environments on set.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Volume Operator in Virtual Production, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Volume Operator in Virtual Production, you need a solid understanding of real-time rendering, LED wall technology, and camera tracking systems, often supported by experience in film production or computer graphics. Job description

Job Title: Virtual Auto Appraisal Claims Negotiator (High-Volume Desk)
Company: Snapsheet
Job Location: Remote (See geographic restrictions below)
Job Type: Full Time
Start Date: TBD, Future Opportunity
About Snapsheet
Snapsheet is the industry leader in virtual property damage claims. While others are just now adapting to remote models, we engineered the standard. We provide the cloud-based architecture and elite technical expertise that over 170+ P&C Carriers, MGAs, and TPAs rely on to deliver precise outcomes. Our specialized services span the entire claim lifecycle, including virtual handling for auto, specialty lines, total loss, and total loss settlements.
The Role
We are not looking for candidates who can write basic auto collision estimates. We are looking for analytical reviewers who can research and support a technical position through negotiations and informed decision making. As a Virtual Claims Negotiator at Snapsheet, you are a technical expert with high-level problem-solving skills who thrives on executing tactical, high-volume work.
We look for reviewers who are motivated within a high-volume production environment, but never at the expense of accuracy. You must ensure that repair plans are consistent with the reported facts of loss. We expect you to take ownership of the claim by identifying discrepancies and elevating questionable damages to leadership or the carrier for further review.
Responsibilities
  • Technical Negotiation: Pick up the phone and negotiate complex supplements and repair logic with body shops, ensuring estimates comply with carrier guidelines while maintaining professional rapport.
  • High-Volume Execution: Manage a high-speed desk, maintaining quality while meeting or exceeding a threshold of 10-16 claims per day.
  • Technical Defense: Utilize CCC One and other estimating platforms to write fair and accurate estimates to return vehicles to preloss condition based on photos, supporting your repair decisions with data and logic.
  • Process Adherence & Professionalism:
    • Documentation Excellence: Maintain meticulous, real-time documentation of all interactions with internal and external customers, ensuring clarity and process compliance.
    • Adaptability: Demonstrate the ability to pivot between diverse carrier workflows while maintaining a consistent, polished professional tone in both written and verbal correspondence.
    • Professional Conduct: Effectively represent Snapsheet and our carrier partners by resolving technical challenges with diplomacy, precision, and adherence to established guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 3-6 years of auto physical damage claims handling experience preferred. We highly value candidates with a background in both insurance carrier operations and collision repair environments. You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience writing auto property claims and a deep understanding of DRP (Direct Repair Program) workflows.
  • Proven Volume (Required):
    • Carrier/IA Desk: History of handling 10-16 desk reviews per day or experience in high-volume CAT deployments.
    • Carrier/IA (Field): History of successfully managing 6-10 field estimates per day.
    • Shop: Proven history of personal ownership over $100k+ in monthly individual sales.
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive working experience in CCC One is required.
  • Market Experience: We have a strong preference for candidates with experience in high-competition, high-volume metro markets (e.g., Dallas, Chicago, Tampa). Navigating the negotiation nuances of these fast-paced environments is a significant advantage.

This Role is a Great Fit IF:
  • You're an individual contributor who thrives doing the work - you're not looking for a management entry point, but you do want a clear path to grow. Advancement here is real and based on your performance and development.
  • You have a focused background in auto material/property damage - this is a specialized role and that expertise is what sets you up for success here.
  • You're energized by high-volume production and have a proven track record to match - this desk runs at 10-16 claims per day.
  • You want to actively engage in the negotiation process - researching and supporting technical positions through informed decision making rather than relying on automated adjustment tools like CCC Open Shop Assignment.
  • You're comfortable and confident in technology-heavy workflows and the self-direction that remote work requires - this role runs across multiple platforms daily (our proprietary tools, CCC One, Google Suite, and more), and thriving here means being equally fluent in both.

We're Built to Grow With You - And That Starts With How We Support You
At Snapsheet, we know that growth doesn't happen in a vacuum-it's fueled by the right support at the right time. That's why we've built a benefits experience designed to grow with you, wherever life takes you.
  • Choose from 2 robust medical plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield-plus, we contribute to your HSA when you enroll in our high-deductible health plan.
  • Offer two dental plans and one vision plan to keep you and your family healthy.
  • Peace of mind with company-paid Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
  • Additional protection through voluntary benefits like Accident Insurance, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness, and Legal Assistance.
  • 401(k) with a 4% company match-because your future is worth investing in.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with 6 sessions per life incident to support your mental well-being.

Perks That Make Growing Here Even Better:
  • Time-Off: Flexible PTO and 7.5 company-observed holidays to recharge on your terms.
  • Remote Community: Engage through remote team events, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and active digital communities. Snapsters also benefit from a casual dress code.
  • Performance-Driven Advancement: We don't believe in waiting for an annual review. We offer a rapid advancement path with quarterly opportunities for promotion based strictly on your production and technical mastery.
  • Fair Compensation & Bonuses: We believe in compensating fairly for your effort. In addition to a competitive base, we offer a structured bonus program for claims negotiators who exceed our daily production requirements.
  • Mentorship: 1-on-1 management and goal-setting sessions to sharpen your technical and professional edge.

Additional Information
  • Technical Evaluation: Candidates may be required to complete a CCC technical proficiency assessment.
  • Licensing Requirements: Prior to your start date, you must currently hold a valid state insurance appraisal license or complete an online licensing class (paid for by Snapsheet). *Non-licensed candidates are required to successfully complete all coursework and the final exam prior to their offer letter start date.
  • Location Restrictions: This role is remote based in the U.S. but is not eligible for hire in CA, CO, NY, WA, KY, MT, WY, MA, OR, IL, HI, UT, or AK.

To ensure a fair and efficient hiring process, we kindly ask candidates to apply no more than once every six months.
