NDE Lead or Specialist - Vogtle
This posting is for one NDE position to be filled at Plant Vogtle- Waynesboro, GA
Job Summary
Southern Nuclear has immediate openings for Nuclear Specialists in our Fleet Outage Services Department. This position reports to the Outages Services Non-destructive examination (NDE) Supervisor, or Manager and will be located at Vogtle Nuclear Plant, Southern Nuclear Operating facility. The candidate selected for this position shall have a working knowledge of applicable American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards, with a minimum level of certification to Level II in 2 of the following methods Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Eddy Current Testing or Visual Examination. This position requires planning, scheduling, and performing inspections (in the field), evaluating inspection results including preparation, setup of test equipment, and travel to each of the Southern Nuclear Operating sites and Industry events.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Background/Experience Requirements:
  • Experience meeting the following requirements:
    • Level II Ultrasonic PDI UT-1, UT-2 (Highly Desired)
    • Level II in Radiography (Desired)
    • Level II in MT/PT/VT/ECT (Highly Desired)
  • Industrial site experience (Desired)
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plants (Required)
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes (Desired)

Other Attributes:
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, e.g., outage support, planning, scheduling, implementation
  • Travel (domestic) is required, including work assignment at Fleet nuclear units (travel up to 50%)
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access

Technical Requirements:
  • Knowledge of ASME/NDE codes and standards
  • Knowledge of NDE methods
