Shift Support Supervisor In Training - Vogtle 1&2
We have an opportunity for a Shift Support Supervisor In Training at Plant Vogtle, Units 1&2, in Waynesboro, GA.
Job Description: Selected candidates for the Shift Support Supervisor in Training will perform Operations staff functions for plant familiarization to prepare for an upcoming NRC License Class. Candidates must successfully complete plant-provided systems and fundamentals training on reactor operation, heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics, as well as pass initial screening and annual medical requirements for acquiring and maintaining industrial fire brigade duties. Upon the successful completion of License Class and attaining an NRC Operating License, the SRO candidate will become a Shift Support Supervisor, directing operating shift personnel in the performance of plant duties. This will include standing watch on rotating 12-hour shifts and coordinating and directing the operation of the nuclear power plant's systems. Shift work, continuing training with periodic examinations, respirator qualification, and maintaining qualification as a member of the plant Fire Brigade are all requirements of this position.
Job Requirements: Candidates will be required to meet at least one of the following requirements:
- 1 or more years as an active reactor operator at Vogtle Unit 1 or 2, or active reactor operator or senior reactor operator at a Westinghouse PWR facility; OR
- 1.5 or more years as an active reactor operator or senior reactor operator at a non-comparable commercial power reactor;
OR - 2 or more years in a position equivalent to a reactor operator position at a military reactor. Equivalent positions include:
- Propulsion Plant Watch Officer
- Engineering Watch Supervisor
- Reactor Operator
- Engineering Officers of the Watch
- Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor
OR • Power Plant Staff position or qualified Non licensed operator.
Must have 18 months of experience, BS degree or equivalent in engineering, engineering technology, or related sciences; or professional engineer license.
- Power Plant Staff: A Manager, Supervisor, or Staff Member, including corporate personnel, responsible for the coordination and implementation of plant equipment controls, integrated operations procedures, operations, maintenance, radiological support, modifications, maintenance planning, work control, chemistry, or accredited training at the current or a comparable (i.e., BWR/PWR) facility. Experience at a non-comparable facility may be credited on a 1.5 :1.0 basis.
- Qualified Non-licensed Operator: Qualified for all power block and safety systems operation at the current or a comparable (i.e., BWR/PWR) facility.
OR • Certified at an equivalent senior rector operator level by the utility and has total senior reactor operator certified instructor experience greater than 4 years. Experience at a non-comparable facility may be credited on a 1.5 : 1.0 basis.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred. Preferred candidates will have six or more years of experience in nuclear plant operations, including holding a previous NRC RO or SRO license or military equivalent. Demonstrated leadership, preferably at the supervisor level or above, along with excellent oral and written skill Other Requirements:
The selected candidate will be required to obtain U.S. Nuclear Power Plant Unescorted Access and will participate in the company's Fitness-for-Duty Program.
Candidates may also be required to maintain qualifications and on-call responsibilities in support of the plant Emergency Response Organization.
To obtain unescorted access, the selected candidate will be required to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).
Information from this form will be used to conduct an extensive background investigation as required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Solid analytical thinking and strong mechanical aptitude a must.
Should possess a high degree of manual dexterity and mature judgment.
Live within one hour of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.
