Job description

Position Summary
GD Resources is seeking a qualified Catholic Worship Service Music Director to plan, coordinate, and lead music for Catholic worship services, rehearsals, and special events at Whiteman AFB. The Music Director will work closely with the Senior Chaplain and lead volunteer musicians and vocalists in accordance with Catholic worship traditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead music for Sunday Catholic services and designated special events.
  • Coordinate weekly with the Senior Chaplain or designee.
  • Select and distribute appropriate music at least 24 hours before rehearsals.
  • Conduct at least one rehearsal each week on a day separate from the worship service.
  • Direct, recruit, and develop volunteer musicians, vocalists, and choirs.
  • Arrange and adapt music as needed.
  • Operate chapel sound, projection, and music-display systems.
  • Assist with setup and teardown of musical equipment.
  • Arrive at least 10 minutes before rehearsals and 30 minutes before services or events.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, rehearsals, meetings, and work performed.
  • Safeguard government equipment, facilities, information, and issued keys.
  • Comply with applicable laws, Air Force instructions, chapel procedures, and security requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Catholic faith and Catholic contemporary worship traditions.
  • Worship-planning and music-leadership experience.
  • Strong vocal ability and effective congregational leadership skills.
  • Ability to read sheet music or chord charts and learn new music.
  • Ability to play at least one musical instrument; piano or guitar preferred.
  • Experience directing worship teams, choirs, musicians, and vocalists.
  • Familiarity with sound systems, computers, projectors, CCLI/SongSelect, or similar software.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with chapel personnel, volunteers, and members of different faith groups.
  • Ability to successfully complete required criminal-history and installation-access checks.

This is a part-time contract position supporting up to 112 worship services, rehearsals, and meetings annually.
