Job description


Description of Duties: 
The Vocal Director is responsible for teaching and refining all musically vocal elements of the Middle School Musical. Duties include:

  • Teaching vocal lines and harmonies to students of varying ability levels in a positive, encouraging manner with a focus on good technique and diction
  • Attending scheduled rehearsals and production meetings as needed.
  • Collaborating with the Musical Director and production staff to ensure integration with choreography, staging, and overall production.
  • Providing clear instruction and modeling to help students learn vocal parts
  • Assisting with student supervision during rehearsals and performances.
  • Supporting the development of students' confidence, teamwork, and stage presence.
  • Attending and assisting with all technical rehearsals and all performances.


Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in vocal performance, chorus direction, or theater production (experience working with middle school students preferred).
  • Ability to teach singing in an engaging, age-appropriate, and supportive way that protects vocal health
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility, patience, and enthusiasm for working with middle school students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the production team and school staff.
  • Availability for after-school rehearsals and scheduled performances.
