Key Responsibilities

  • Execute approved standard and normal changes in accordance with documented procedures, risk controls, maintenance windows, and change management requirements.

  • Collaborate with L2/L3 engineering teams, application owners, vendors, data center teams, security partners, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and complete approved work.
  • Identify opportunities to shift repeatable work into standardized procedures, knowledge articles, reporting, or automation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional ticket updates, work notes, task outcomes, and escalation details in ServiceNow.
  • Contribute to operational documentation, SOPs, KB articles, runbooks, handoff notes, and cross-training materials.
  • Participate in a 24/7 operational support model, including after-hours support, shift handoff, escalation coverage, or on-call rotation as required.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Five or more years of experience supporting, maintaining, or servicing infrastructure technologies such as storage, backup, virtualization, server, or data center platforms.
  • Three or more years of experience in a production data center or enterprise operations environment.
  • Experience working incidents, tasks, requests, and changes in an ITSM platform such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience following documented operational procedures, change controls, security standards, and audit/compliance expectations.
Virtual Infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, SRM, NSX-T, and VMware operations tools such as vROps or VMware Aria Operations.
  • Experience with VM lifecycle activity, resource changes, snapshots, datastore validation, cluster health, host maintenance mode, and VM migration or vMotion support.
  • Familiarity with Dell and Cisco hardware infrastructure, including Dell OME and Cisco UCS platforms.
Storage and Data Protection
  • Working knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies, including enterprise storage, capacity, performance, provisioning, and recovery concepts.
  • Experience with platforms such as Dell PowerMax, VMAX, Unity, Isilon/PowerScale, ECS, Pure Storage, NetApp, Brocade, Data Domain, and Cohesity.
  • Understanding of backup job monitoring, restore support, replication, disaster recovery exercises, and storage health validation.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors for hardware break/fix, log collection, remote troubleshooting, and service restoration.
Operations, Automation, and Governance
  • Strong understanding of incident, problem, change, request, and escalation management processes.
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing, reporting, dashboards, catalog tasks, change tasks, and operational metrics.
  • Experience with monitoring, alert triage, event correlation, log review, and health-check processes.
  • Familiarity with automation tools or concepts such as Ansible/AWX, PowerCLI, scripting, ServiceNow Flow Designer, platform integrations, and repeat-task reduction.
  • Knowledge of IT standards, security expectations, access controls, audit requirements, and risk-aware infrastructure operations.
Core Competencies
  • Demonstrates urgency and ownership when responding to incidents, outages, escalations, and customer-impacting issues.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with technical teams, vendors, application owners, leadership, and business partners.
  • Analyzes complex technical issues, identifies likely causes, documents findings, and drives work toward resolution.
  • Balances speed, risk, auditability, and change discipline when executing infrastructure work.
