Job description

Presidio, Where Teamwork and Innovation Shape the Future

At Presidio, we're at the forefront of a global technology revolution, transforming industries through cutting-edge digital solutions and next-generation AI. We empower businesses - and their internal customers - to achieve more through innovation, automation, and intelligent insights.

The Role

The Platform Operations Senior Engineer deploys, supports, and continuously improves the platforms that underpin Presidio’s managed services solutions, with a primary focus on Presidio’s Managed Services Gateway, which is used to run our tooling in client environments. This role administers Linux and Kubernetes environments; deploys and supports Managed Services Gateways across AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware, and Microsoft Hyper-V; applies automation to improve operational workflows; and troubleshoots complex issues across infrastructure and application layers. The Senior Engineer also serves as an escalation point, supports platform security and lifecycle initiatives, maintains operational standards and documentation, and provides technical guidance to other engineers.

Travel Requirements

This is a remote role situated in the Continental US with 5% associated travel.

Responsibilities Include
  • Deploy, configure, validate, maintain, upgrade, and support Managed Services Gateways across AWS, Azure, VMware, and Hyper-V environments, including verification of compute, storage, network, firewall, and other platform requirements.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux operating systems, Kubernetes environments, and Rancher‑managed workloads, as well as related container, virtualization, networking, storage, VPN, and application service issues.
  • Use Windmill and other automation tools to improve deployment, validation, maintenance, and operational workflows; automate repetitive tasks; and improve reliability while reducing operational risk.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or service‑impacting issues, maintaining ownership of incidents, requests, changes, and problems through resolution or appropriate escalation.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal cloud, infrastructure, security, and networking teams, and document work, communications, and resolution details in ServiceNow.
  • Create and maintain deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, standards, and operational runbooks, while providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other engineers.
  • Support platform testing, patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, lifecycle management, and standardization efforts.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and perform after-hours or weekend work as required for deployments, maintenance, upgrades, or critical incidents.
Required Skills and Professional Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
  • 5‑8 years of experience in platform operations, systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
  • Advanced experience administering and troubleshooting Linux operating systems, along with hands‑on experience deploying, operating, and supporting Kubernetes environments managed through Rancher.
  • Experience with VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, working knowledge of AWS and Microsoft Azure infrastructure concepts and platform services within cloud and virtualization environments.
  • 3‑5 years' experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls or comparable enterprise platforms, Cisco routing and switching or comparable networking technologies, and strong networking fundamentals, including IPv4 addressing and subnetting, routing and next‑hop determination, DNS, NAT, VLANs, firewall policies and requirements, VPNs, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience using Windmill or a comparable automation or workflow platform and ServiceNow for incident, request, change, and problem management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across application, operating system, virtualization, cloud, and network layers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to nontechnical audiences, independently manage complex work, and balance competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, technical growth, and staying current with evolving technologies and industry best practices.
  • Must be a US Citizen
Preferred Skills and Professional Experience
  • Direct hands‑on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Cisco routing and switching technologies.
  • Experience with a combination of Docker, Git, Bash, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting immutable operating systems, edge platforms, or fleets of remotely managed Managed Services Gateways.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, observability, and CI/CD practices.
  • Relevant Linux, Kubernetes, VMware, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, Cisco, or Palo Alto certifications.
