Job description

Teach one or two courses for the University of Memphis, at the graduate level, in the Open-Source Investigative Reporting graduate program.THIS POSTING IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF AN OPEN POSITION. Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department chair when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer. Postings close yearly on January 31; to maintain your application within the system, you will need to re-apply each year. At the time of application, applicants should be prepared to upload a cover letter, resume/CV, references list, statement of teaching philosophy, & an unofficial transcript

The University of Memphis is a leading, student-centered, urban public R1 research institution. Located in Memphis, Tennessee, on 1,160 acres. The University serves a population of nearly 20,000 students and 2,500 employees, including more than 1,000 full-time faculty members. The University offers bachelor's degrees in more than 230 areas of study, master's degrees in more than 50 subjects and doctoral degrees in 26 disciplines; supported an institutional record of more than $100 million in research awards for FY24; and has an operating budget of close to $500 million.

Master's degree in the teaching discipline or master's degree in another discipline with 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline. Previous higher education teaching experience strongly desired.Candidates with a bachelor's degree and 15+ years professional journalism experience may be considered.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investigative journalism practices, including expertise in data journalism and/or visual investigations.Selected candidates must agree to and pass a criminal background check in order to be employed.
