Job description

Job Title

To provide patient care and technical skills in the operation of a computed tomography (CT) scanner and radiographic equipment for diagnostic and evaluation purposes.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks
  • Contributes to the success of UTMB HealthCare Systems.
  • Practices proper entries and records on Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System.
  • Prepares patient for CT procedure by accurately assessing patient's needs and providing patient education.
  • Operates computed tomography scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
  • Prepares patients films for interpretation by radiologist.
  • Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
  • Practices safety measures in CT and Environment of Care.
  • Participates in research projects.
  • Instructs students on clinical CT skills.
  • Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for the department.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and/or in written form.
  • Customer service orientation and values.
  • Ability to negotiate solutions and outcomes.

  • Ability to work in partnership with management and staff.
Required Education / Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program, ARRTR OR CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) from ARRT OR NMTCB and Certified as a Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Board of Medicine
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a CT/XR Tech within the last 2 years
  • Must have current BLS certification obtained through American Heart Association
Equipment
  • Standard patient care supplies, CT and other equipment and mechanical devices.
Working Environment
  • Standard hospital environment.
  • May require some heavy lifting and moving, positioning of patients and equipment, pushing, or pulling more than fifty pounds.
