Role Summary

The Display Artist collaborates with the Visual Merchandising Manager to create an emotionally engaging environment, developing two- & three-dimensional displays that reflect the customer's appreciation of discovery, creativity, diversity, and authenticity.

Role ResponsibilitiesBrand Experience
  • Acts as a brand representative reflective of the company values and partners with the Visual Merchandising Manager on the creation of an engaging visual experience that appeals to the UO customer
  • Demonstrates awareness of the impact that display and merchandising have on the overall store; interprets seasonal direction to support increasing sales and profitability
  • Exhibits an understanding of and interest in current, brand relevant trends in art, design, architecture, and fashion and how they can apply to the store environment
Leadership + Team Management
  • Mentors the team through the philosophy of "peers teaching peers" by training visual expectations, materials management, and tool safety procedures
  • Attends store meetings to share inspiration, new ideas, and pertinent information from Home Office with the store team
  • Takes initiative with each project to grow display experience and elevate craft; supports in the identification and training of future display talent
Visual + Business Operations
  • Collaborates in the display planning process through sharing of inspiration, idea generation, sketching, and sourcing of materials; prioritizes projects and monitors progress with timelines while following the visual spending guidelines and budget
  • Applies seasonal direction and inspiration provided by the Home Office to meet the unique needs of the store; establishes signage and fixtures that uphold presentation standards
  • Executes and maintains all window and interior displays while ensuring craft of all displays are high quality and well executed; keeps back of house areas organized and clean, including display room, signage storage area, and fixture room
  • Adheres to store's safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store
Communication + Relationships
  • Builds and maintains productive partnerships with members of the store team contributing to a culture of strong communication and teamwork
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills; appropriately filters and communicates presentation priorities and initiatives
  • Partners with the Visual Merchandising Manager and when applicable provides support to neighboring non-DA stores in the market and district
  • Demonstrates adaptability by redirecting display priorities as needed to work through problem-solving scenarios or a redirection in company directives

  • Previous experience with building, drafting, and a working knowledge of power tools (including but not limited to circular saw, miter/chop saw, jig saw)
  • Ability to provide examples of previous work or portfolio
  • Occasional travel; May contribute to display needs across multiple stores and/or support store openings
