Your Opportunity
This is a hybrid co-op/internship role with a focus on architectural engineering applications. You will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit design, calculations, and field work. You will be assisting with innovative and creative digital solutions developing Dynamo and/or Grasshopper scripts for use on projects where applicable. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Production of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) drawings, primarily in Revit
  • Perform field work (evaluation of existing sites) as directed by senior engineer/designer
  • Participation in mechanical engineering design including building load calculations, ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficient in CADD with basic understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, and/or Rhino, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting
  • Ability to take direction, follow processes and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineers/designers
  • Basic knowledge of visual scripting tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper is preferred
  • Knowledge of programming in Python is not required, but preferred
  • Keen interest in parametric and generative design methodologies and ability to produce visuals to communicate design ideas
  • Self-starter, natural problem-solving appetite to find opportunities for computational tool development

Education and Experience
  • Working toward a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar/relevant Engineering program

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
