Job description

RK&K is seeking a creative and detail-oriented temporary contract/on-call Graphic Designer to join our Healthy Communities team. This role is ideal for a design professional who is passionate about creating visually compelling materials that support community engagement, transportation initiatives, and public outreach efforts. The Graphic Designer will play a key role in translating complex ideas into clear, engaging visual content that resonates with diverse audiences.
This is a temporary contract/on-call position with flexible hours. Position could evolve into a full-time opportunity.
Must provide a portfolio for consideration.
Essential Functions:
  • Design and develop high-quality graphics for print and digital platforms, including reports, presentations, infographics, social media content, and public outreach materials
  • Collaborate with planners, engineers, and communications staff to support community engagement and transportation projects
  • Create visually engaging materials for public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder presentations
  • Ensure brand consistency across all materials in alignment with RK&K and client standards
  • Translate technical concepts into accessible, easy-to-understand visuals for public audiences
  • Support proposal development with graphics, layouts, and visual storytelling elements
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously elevate creative output
  • Possess an understanding of Section 508 compliance and accessible document creation

Minimum Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Visual Communications, or a related field
  • 3 years of professional graphic design experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating layout, branding, and visual storytelling capabilities
