JOB SUMMARY:

The Visual Merchandising Intern supports the Visual Merchandise team in maintaining visual integrity standards across Merchandise locations. This role provides hands-on learning opportunities in design, fabrication, and execution of visual merchandising elements, while gaining exposure to seasonal activations, store environments, and creative project workflows.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design & Fabrication Support

  • Assist with the design, hands-on fabrication, and installation of props, set pieces, backdrops, and visual elements for seasonal window sets, pop-up shops, and specialty activations.
  • Learn and practice basic skills using handheld and shop-based tools under supervision.
  • Support paint applications, finishes, and surface treatments as directed by senior team members.

Visual Merchandising Project Assistance

  • Support the Visual Merchandise team with design research, sourcing, and preparation of materials for merchandising projects.
  • Assist with fixtures, graphics, signage, mannequins, and collateral that support in-store merchandise assortments.
  • Help organize samples, project files, and reference materials.

Seasonal & Event Execution Support

  • Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of event, seasonal, and thematic collateral.
  • Participate in hands-on setup, assembly, and breakdown of pop-up shops and theatrical-style presentations.
  • Help with scheduling coordination and installation preparation as needed.

Store Opening & In-Store Initiative Support

  • Support visual merchandising components of new store openings, renovations, and small in-store initiatives.
  • Assist with prop preparation, fixture staging, collateral organization, and on-site installs under guidance.

Holiday & Seasonal Visuals

  • Assist with park-wide merchandise holiday trim and seasonal signage execution.
  • Help assemble visually compelling product presentations using existing and custom visual elements.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Visual Merchandise team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Interest in visual merchandising, retail design, set design, or a related creative field.
  • Basic familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and/or SketchUp (academic experience acceptable).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to learn hands-on fabrication techniques and tools safely.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a creative team.
  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Senor or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • A transcript is required upon application.
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Preferred majors include:  Visual Merchandising, Design, Fine Arts, Theater Design, Interior Design, Theme Park / Experience Design, Graphic Design, or related creative disciplines.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2027.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
  • All of our internships are paid, and you may also qualify for housing financial assistance if applicable. The Recruiter will provide specific eligibility details.
