The Opportunity
The role requires a good knowledge of Arup's brand and its application in the design process. The Visual Communications Specialist will design, execute, and produce concepts directly for stakeholders with minimal supervision, adopting best practices in collaboration with specialists in the creative network. The role requires a strong understanding of Arup's brand and the ability to apply it consistently across a wide range of design outputs. They will support our strategic priorities with a range of work and produce high quality deliverables that respond to the brief and embodies the Arup brand.
Responsibilities
  • Design and produce high quality visual communications across print and digital formats, including presentations, reports, infographics, interactive documents, social media assets, event collateral, and marketing materials.
  • Outputs will meet agreed briefs, deadlines, and quality standards, with strong attention to brand, detail and accuracy.
  • Translate design briefs into effective visual solutions across various mediums while maintaining brand consistency. Seek input from senior team members as needed to ensure quality and outcomes. Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Adhere to brand guidelines across all design deliverables. Be a brand ambassador and knowledgeable across the Brand Hub to help answer member questions.
  • Proactively research ideas to evolve creative thinking. Focus on continuous improvement of ways of working to optimize efficiency with the latest technologies, tools, and approaches.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, clearly articulate ideas, passionately present work, proactively listen, and take on feedback.
  • Work collaboratively, contribute to team/project meetings, make work and workload visible.
  • Organize and maintain design files and brand assets. Help maintain an atmosphere of inspiration and collaboration
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to generate fresh ideas and contribute to the development of innovative visual concepts that align with brand goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication, Graphic Design) or a Bachelor of Digital Design (Graphic Design), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Portfolio link or samples of recent work must be included with your submission.

Knowledge and Experience
Design
  • 3-5+ years professional experience in graphic design and visual communications within a corporate environment or consultancy services firm
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint and basic skills in Microsoft Word.
  • Understanding of multimedia practices, including video and animation.
  • Sound typographical skills with the ability to work on long documents.
  • Experience working with third-party service providers, like printers, exhibition providers, merchandise providers, illustrators, and photographers.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $100,000 to $115,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York will differ.
